I have a Weatherby Vanguard gen 1 in 270 WSM that has been sitting in the safe, neglected for awhile. I have the opportunity to start hunting whitetails next year so I'm looking to set this rifle up.
I'll have the opportunity to shoot up to 600 yards when hunting and target up to 1000 yds.

Been going down the rabbit hole of research. Two scopes that are at the top of my list are the Accupoint and the Optika 6.
The Accupoint seems to be a rock solid option. The Optika6 scopes seem to get universal praise, though are not nearly as popular.

Looking for some advice. Not sure if the extra zoom on the Meopta would be useful? How's the glass compare between the two? Does 56mm objective vs 44mm matter on 2.5-10x range?

Thanks.

You don’t need more than 10x magnification.

That AccuPoint is a superb scope. I am not saying anything against the other one, but Trijicons have no durability issues. The last time I was scope shopping, it came down to the 3-9x40 AccuPoint or the 2.5-10x56. I ultimately went with the 3-9x because it’s lighter and more than enough magnification for whitetail hunting. It’s my favorite non-SWFA scope.

I haven’t compared it firsthand to everything else currently on the market, but it’s the best set-it-and-forget-it MPBR hunting scope I’ve used in nearly forty years of deer hunting.

I don't have the AccuPoint, but I do have that Meopta.

1) Right, Meopta is supposedly having serious customer service issues related to new owners. I would not by a Meopta scope until that issue is resolved.

2) Meopta who knows where new Meopta's are made and where the parts were sourced from. Assembled in the USA out of European parts is very different from Assembled in the USA out of Chinese parts.

3) My Meopta (about 3-5 years old) has good glass and is built like a tank. I am perfectly fine keeping it on one of my better rifles. I just won't consider buying a new one.

4) Why would you need a 56mm front lens on the AccuPoint? Their 3-9x40 is cheaper and significantly lighter. Plus, you can mount it lower to the bore.

Thanks for the input. Going to go Trijicon. I guess the 56mm vs 40mm thought was better low light performance. Gun might see some use for coyote patrol and ability to see in low light would be a plus. Maybe 40mm is good enough?

Also like the 30mm tube.

I have no issues seeing well after legal shooting hours with the 3-9x40 trijicon. The bigger tubes and bells let you run at a higher magnification in low light. The smaller ones can be just as bright as lower magnification.

I had the accupoint with the green triangle.

It's a really nice scope but I consider it a 100-200 yard point and shoot scope, with SFP and capped elevation turrets.

I've never seen the meopta in person but the accupoint has a tiny little bottle cap as a turret.

The Meopta has a capped elevation turret too.

Get a dialing scope with FFP if you really want to shoot deer at 600 and targets at 1000.

Don't know which Accupoint you're considering, but be aware that the 3-9X40 is a 1 inch tube, not 30mm.

Thanks for all the replies. You got me thinking and reconsidering.
I'm heavily debating a 3-9 Accupoint, 3-9 Credo and the AccuPoint 2.5-10x56.

The more I think about it, putting one of these scopes on will make the rifle functional and keeps funds available for a.243 setup I want to put together.

Thanks for the input.

I have a 3-9x credo, 2.5-10x56 credo hx. I have several other trijicons from the huron line as well as some other trijicon scopes.

They have all been excellent.

In regard's to the 2.5-10x56, it’s sfp and has the hunter moa reticle. I have had it about a year. While it hasn’t been dropped or anything, it’s been hunted several times and has given me no trouble, it has probably 500 rounds shooting steel plates and rocks. Everything about it is perfect for my uses. Tracks great, great glass, great low light performance.

The only downside is that medium rings had the objective bell less than a business card thickness from the barrel, and I still didn’t have a decent cheek weld. Went with tall rings and added a cheek pad which is better but still not what I want. Once I have scope height resolved it’ll be a perfect setup. It lives on a custom Ruger Hawkeye that was previously an ‘06 but is getting a new barrel and will be a 270. Bartlein 5r 25” finish length. It’s going to be my foul weather coast/alaska gun for goats, sheep, deer to moose etc. looking forward chrono’ing my 129 lrx’s.

The 3-9 is on a afghan contour (heavy) noveske stainless 556 AR barrel. I really like the combo. It’s light and compact. Has the duplex reticle.

No complaints either way, but for your purposes of hunting and target shooting, 2.5-10x56 all day.

I haven't ever used the triangle.Mine are mil dot and are very effective at longer ranges once you take the time to learn them.

I'm leaning towards the 2.5-10x56, just a little concerned about the mounting height like you mentioned as I just want to mount it and have it work, not chase additional mods. Plus that credo price seems to good to pass up, but buy once right...
It's nice to have options and know either is a good choice

Previously it had a vx5hd zl2 duplex. Glass is equal or near enough, but the full value 10x trijicon defeated the look of leupold at 10x + mag, and the moa hunter reticle is nice and not too busy. I bought two sets of warne maxima rings with the plan of selling whatever didn’t work but decided against it, and that chasing down a few adjustments to parts is worth it for what the 56 brings to the gun. A flat shooting 129 grain lrx missile in waning light or early early is buck medicine.
