Got black diamond alpine carbon corks recently. I can't believe I haven't tried poles until this year. I would guess you can't go wrong with any decent brand flick locks.
Just ordered these. 20% off at REI online with the code 20REWARDS, then applied $44.78 in dividends. Should have been over $165 with tax, came in under $90.
1 vote for Komperdell carbon. I had the twist lock and one of my poles broke the mechanism while packing out. I sent the poles back this spring to their CS dept for a repair. They sent back a new set of carbons with the flip locks at no charge with no questions asked.
Buddy of mine adopted this DIY plan off of Backpacking Lite's forums. We've used them for several years now and they are the lightest poles I know of. Cheap enough to have a back-up pair waiting in the truck in case you misplace them. Twist-lock design.
