BIG mess up this morning. Everything was going good feeling fine and refreshed, left a little earlier etc... I'm on my way to my hunting spot this morning which is about a 45 minute drive. I'm about half hour into it when I realized the reason my feet are breathing so well is because I have crocs on!! My boots are 20 miles away!!! So I'm heading back now.
Is this a good sign of a successful day? We will see!
Hate it when I do that - one time I was leaving after work for a long weekend chasing turkeys and ended up hunting in my dress shoes because I forgot to grab my boots when I left my house that morning.
Good luck
It's all right man, been there done that....... Well sort of.
I was hog hunting in central Ca a couple years back at a ranch. Went back to the ranch in the afternoon to grab a bite to eat. Got done and hiked a mile or so back to where I wanted to be. Sure enough I found a nice 250lb hog bedded a few hundred yards away. Closed the distance to inside if 100 yards go to knock an arrow and while doing so look at my hand! What's missing? My release!! Lol sat there and looked at that pig for the next 10 min wondering how I could forget that damn thing.
Tried to hurry back but of course he was gone when I got back lol.
Laugh it off go get them boots and go stick one man! Good luck today.
I sent travis a little honey hole info night before last and it seems to of helped. I just got a text from Travis and he is stalking on a coues buck right now and asked me to update for him
Hey fellas. Well it turned out to be a mule deer for one, all I could see were the does ears and the tips of his antlers moving. He looked small and I was on coues country I figured it was one. They were bedded 150 yards from the road I drove up. A Honda element with two cowboys in it came up the road by my truck and turned around. They stopped near where the deer were bedded and got out to take a leak. That's when they stood up and I got a better look at him. Small 2x3 with a few honeys. They took off. I was able to relocate them on another ridge. I worked my way to them and got 112 yards. Everything was perfect but after looking at him I decided to pass. I backed out and headed to higher ground to do some more glassing.
I have a serious amount of respect for the folks that hunt Arizona consistently. There is alot of country to glass and you have to be on top of your game glassing here. 15x is the only way to go. I have always felt I am a good glasser. I usually will always find more bucks than anyone else I'm hunting with by a big margin. This country though, it's humbling to say the least.
Travis , it's going on 21 hours. I hope you have a stud buck down and are just taking care of business. I'm wasting away at my computer , unable to tear myself away to eat or even use the restroom . If it weren't for the depends I got from some astronaut chick it would be a real mess ! JK !
I talked with him a couple times today....chasing javelina and had seen a couple bucks. He called me to talk him out of shooting a buck, I told him to go kill it. He did say he wouldn't have service where he was headed.
