Transdermal mosquito/fly/tick/(flea?) protection for humans?

As I'm sitting here doing some minor research (5am, can't sleep...) on flea and tick protection for my 15wk old GSD puppy, I got to thinking. Why isn't there anything like this for humans? Maybe there is and I'm just not aware of it.

It would be glorious to have something like this onboard when roaming the backcountry.

Not that I'm gonna try it, but why is this stuff safe for dogs, but not humans?

Dog dont like to be 70. I think is chronic exposure with chemical leaching that affects eventually.

I think youre supposed to be careful around it on your dog too. One of those not safe for kids and pregnant women things expecially.
