Training Pudelpointer Pup

Ah, the 2x4s is a great idea! I can't shoot a pistol in my current neighborhood, but I was planning to start with clapping, then clanging pots and pans, and I'll also incorporate the 2x4s. Thanks!
A couple of 2x4s works surprisingly well. I had a couple attached with a hinge and with a ½" dowel in the end of one for a handle. Just give it a whip-flick motion and it gives an excellent crack

I’ve been in your shoes before. Also, don’t overthink it. If you start reading serval books, You’re going to get several different opinions/approaches, then you’ll be more confused than your dog haha.

I got my pup from Bob Farris and followed his book with great results. I’d highly recommend sticking to one training program. Besides obedience, a dog with good genetics will just need wild bird exposure to become a good bird dog.

Only thing I’d recommend is exposing her to as many dogs and people in a safe environment as possible. This is also covered in Bob’s book.

Also, we use a Gunner Intermediate for our (50lb) PP.

Best of luck!

Thank you! Yeah I have read 3 books and that's probably partly why I'm so worked up haha, it gets confusing for sure. But Bob's seems like the way to go. I appreciate it
