I rocked the Altra Timp 5 gtx for a two week trek in the Bernese Oberland area of Switzerland then a handful of days in France and a week in Crete two summers ago. In Switzerland I was primarily hiking from hutte to hutte and they were exceptional. The weather changes rapidly in the Swiss alps and it’s super rocky, they kept my feet dry all but one of the days when it nuked almost 2” of rain, but nothing can keep you dry in that. And my feet never ached or complained. I was carrying a 40lb+ pack with backpacking, mtb and vacation gear for just over 3weeks averaging 15miles a day and they were absolutely perfect. They were pretty broke down by the end of the trip but I had already been using them heavily for a month or so prior to the trip and it was hard miles, shit I even used them for a Via Ferrata, they’re great shoes, super comfy and I never had any complaints, I wouldn’t hesitate to hunt with them, would be a sweet archery elk shoe or for training hikes and scouting. Only downside is they will die faster than a stiffer more robust boot any maybe they won’t be as supportive during a heavy packout but you can’t have everything.
