After reading and participating in the "Dog In The Snare" thread, it got me thinking about when I trapped years ago. I'm curious if any of you trappers set trail cams (video mode) near your sets to record the behavior of the critters your targeting, We didn't have the camera technology back when I trapped.

I’ve been strongly considering it. I watched a trail cam video on Trapperman.com, they have a good board for trappers there, and a guy from new York got footage of a good sized beaver getting taken by a 330 conibear. Wild sequence of events there. I’ve also considered it when trying to clean up problem beavers that have been trap educated, but haven’t had to do that yet.

My coworker sets 150-175 traps. Seems like a huge expense to put cams on even 10% of them.

Idk what’s a normal amount of traps. He targets coyotes mostly.

I would watch vids/clips of animal behavior around sets.

Yeah, If I were still in the game I'd probably put a few cams up on my high percentage sets for sure.

Have a buddy that does. Sets a couple out on his line just for shits and giggles.
