Was following until you got to e-bikes. They have motors; they are motorized vehicles, in my view, they should not be allowed in wilderness areas.
Pretty sure regular bicycles are banned in wilderness areas too. No motorized or mechanized travel methods.

Also specifically restricts hang gliders. Which is a bummer. Would be a sick way to pack a buck or bull out.

Yes, I just checked and indeed, bicycles are not allowed either. Interesting - I wonder if those game carts with little wheels are ok?

Sure would! I wonder if a zipline and pulley, used only for conveying a game animal, would be ok?

A few points additional points OP has made that also make no sense.

You say horses are an exotic species and should not be allowed. -False. Not only are wild horses common in most western states, the origin of horses from the Paleolithic era is in North America. So not only are wild horses here now, they were here 2 million years ago.

You say horses cause pollution on the trails with horse $h!t. Yes, lol you actually made that remark. So, something that erodes in a few months is pollution? God forbid you step in a few horse turds with your fancy new boots you bought for your big western excursion?

It’s the west, the place was founded and explored with horses and mules. Nobody wants to listen to frickin sxs drivers treating every road and trail like the Baja 1000. But I’ve never heard of anyone complaining that they could heard those damn horses whinny’ing from 3 miles away.

Dude…maybe sitting in a tree waiting for a whitetail 75 yards from your pickup is more up your alley

Western states were once underwater. Would a shark not be exotic to the modern ecosystem? Unless wild horse are currently part of the local ecosystem, they are exotic to it.

Exhaust gases dissipate fairly quickly. However, that doesn’t change that they’re a pollutant. Yes horse s**t is a pollutant to the area.

Were you drunk when you wrote this or are you really this dense?

So we’ve got one person saying it’s a stupid rule and most everyone else saying he’s stupid for not understanding why it’s a good rule. Which could it be?

I’m just getting started.

I thought I might start an interesting conversation. Unfortunately many here are more sensitive than the Trudeau fan club.

When I come duck hunt in MS/AR/LA, no one should be able to use a boat or a Mud Buddy motor since I am only bringing my waders.

When I go fish in FL, no one should be able to use a longer rod than me to get bait further off the beach.

When I go to south GA, no one can bring one of those stupid exotic pointing dogs on quail.

Speaking as someone from the south that now lives in the west, you should probably listen more and talk less. My 69 yr old dad came out from TN last week, and went home with a 6 pt bull. No SXS or horses needed, just good old fashioned boot leather (at 2x the elevation you were). And he didn't bitch about changing the rules because he was fat & out of shape and wanted it to be easier or fair. He's smart enough to know that the fair is in Iowa.

I know this is Rokslide GD, but you should work out at least as much as you shitpost.

Game carts are a no-go in wilderness areas as are bicycles. If you are going to cross a wilderness area on a bike, you have to carry it. I know a local guy who does epic bikepacking trips and he's traversed wilderness sections using a Llama to carry his bike. The Grand Canyon, while not designated wilderness, is managed as a wilderness areas. The Arizona Trail crosses the grand canyon and requires the bikepackers to use a backpack modified to carry a bike. You can't even push it -no wheels on the ground.

Here's how they do it: https://www.halfwayanywhere.com/bikepacking/arizona-trail/azt-crossing-grand-canyon/

OP seems like the type of person to tell a cop “i pay your salary” and expect it to make them feel indebted to him.
In fairness, a few of you seem like you lick their boots.

You're 69 yr old Dad shot a bull at 20k ft? That's impressive! I apologize for ever daring to have an opinion in your presence.

Your*

The trailhead you mentioned is at 5k.

Good luck on your hunting next year, maybe hunting out west isn't for you. There are elk in KY and PA that you can drive right up to, apply there.

Found these current regulations from Forest Service and BLM regarding mechanisms in wilderness areas:

FOREST SERVICE: Mechanical Transport. Any contrivance for moving people or material in or over land, water, or air, having moving parts, that provides a mechanical advantage to the user, and that is powered by a living or nonliving power source. This includes, but is not limited to, sailboats, hang gliders, parachutes, bicycles, game carriers, carts, and wagons. It does not include wheelchairs when used as necessary medical appliances. It also does not include skis, snowshoes, rafts, canoes, sleds, travois, or similar primitive devices without moving parts.

BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT. Regulations governing wilderness areas administered by the Bureau of Land Management provide in essence the same definition, but do not even refer to living/non-living power sources: Mechanical transport means any vehicle, device, or contrivance for moving people or material in or over land, water, snow, or air that has moving parts. This includes, but is not limited to, sailboats, sailboards, hang gliders, parachutes, bicycles, game carriers, carts, and wagons. The term does not include wheelchairs, nor does it include horses or other pack stock, skis, snowshoes, non-motorized river craft including, but not limited to, drift boats, rafts, and canoes, or sleds, travois, or similar devices without moving parts.

Well, there goes my zipline idea...😒

I wish there was a website where you could send a link and they would turn a thread into a book for you. This is gold. Ive been reading hunting forums for 20+ years and Ive never seen someone cry so much about their hunt. The title of the book could be a snippet from his other thread on his hunt:

“I drove a 1,000 miles in a week road hunting and still feel like if there was just a few more miles of road open I could have shot (at) an elk”

I can't afford a sxs, nor even afford to have horses (or be around the crazy horse ladies) so I agree with you. If I have to work harder should everyone else since I can't have what they have.

(I personally think most atv's/sxs's should only be limited to FS roads only, and gravel roads.)
Crazy horse ladies are fun. Just don't try to tame them and you'll be ok.

I shoot elk from my truck in that area
Just sayin
Yeah it’s one of the easiest areas to get an elk. I have a friend in a wheelchair and that’s one of the places we’ve taken him to get his elk (which he gets every year)

I’m just shocked he connected the dots to even hunt…I mean drive around that area as a NR
