I have a massey mini tractor GC1705. I had a few issues but one remaining issue

I just replaced the battery and ignition switch. Tractor starts and runs/operates normally. However once the engine is running, it will not shut off if i turn the key to the off position. If I manually actuate the fuel pump cutoff switch I can turn the tractor off. The engine will also continue to run if I put it gear and stand up, which means the seat safety isn't kicking. Chat GPT says to check voltage at the fuel pump solenoid because it might be getting stuck in the on position.

Anyone ever have to fix this issue or had a similar but different fix solution?

Chat is probably correct. If you have a diesel tractor, and electric fuel shut off is not closing and fuel is still flowing into injection pump. As long as fuel is flowing on a diesel into the injector pump it will continue to run.

You probably either didn't connect your kill wire correctly to the new key switch (wrong terminal) or didnt get a good connection.

Your fuel pump shut off is a solenoid, when power is removed, it moves cutting fuel to motor. Its the same way the seat switch kills the tractor is by removing power.

This is evident to me because the problem started after you changed the switch.

Problem existed before replacing the switch. Switch just happened to also be going bad.

The fuel shutoff should be intermittently powered on key off just long enough to cause the engine to stop running (usually 10second range). It will be controlled by a timer relay. Going down the easy route first
#1 - check fuses (should fuse #3, 5amp)
#2 - turn key on, then off and listen near gauge panel area. Should hear a click after around 10 secs
#3- disconnect fuel shutoff, use a test light or multimeter. turn key on and then off. You should see power to it for that 10sec range.
If there’s power, then check that the ground wire is good and if so replace the solenoid.
-If there’s no power, return to the fuse panel and inspect the terminals and wiring to insure nothing is corroded.
#4 - if the issue hasn’t been fixed yet, then I would move on to checking the timer relay. If there are no issue found there, then you move to the world of wiring harness issues, but we’ll stay away from that mess for now.

FML. fixed the tractor finally

Pulled the solenoid and applied 12v. It actuated.
Tested voltage at solenoid when key is turned off from running. 0 volts
Replace shutoff switch. Still runs.
Inspect wiring and a wire pops out the back of the switch plug because it corroded off. Re-crimp and solder the connector. Start tractor and it now turns off . What a pain.

They are great to own and use, but a pain to chase down problems for sure. I'm still working on my Iseki, the the electrical is a mess. To many novice owners cutting splicing and deleting stuff over the years.

I definitely filled the air gaps on the plugs with die electric

As much as a pain chasing that problem was, I'd be encouraged that you as a red blooded human were able to fix something with your own hands. A tool nonetheless that helps you do work like cut hay and move dirt. Problem with the world is that not many folks like that are left. Give yourself a beer or donut or something.
