Toyota I-Force Owners, any issues?

I just left a 24 Tundra. Gigantic pile of crap. Bought a 25 F150 with 3.5 EB and it is a better truck all around, by far.
Ya I remember you had a ton of issues. Mine was fine, but too large to wheel and for the trails for my taste.

First time I went 1/2 ton in a long time. It’s either tacos or a Cummins for me. Half tons just don’t do it lol

I really hope the fix the next gen, this was in the tundra is a disaster

Ps, all the land cruisers do not have the v35a, they all the hybrid 2.4. That would kill gx sales, hence why it’s also not in the 4Runner.
Sorry, meant the 300 series "real" LCs which we don't get here (other than the LX).

Even with the 3700 2024 gx 550 recalled, not one spun main bearing reported in 2024-2026 gx550. Yet there are 1000s of tundras that blew up.

Something is drastically different. Ecu tuning, lack of pre ignition detonation in the gx, fuel mapping, etc.
Glad to hear the GX aren't nearly as affected. I think their motor and the LX are built in Japan vs. Alabama, which might have something to do with it. Those GX are mighty sexy...

That’s all we drive. I had 3100 miles on my tundra. Lost 1500 bucks. Didn’t think that was terrible at all.

Butttt as much as I love yota, they shit the bed on the engine issues for these tundras, I’m glad I got ride of mine, we love our gx.

Thanks for that clarification on the 2.4 LC. I didn’t think they were getting the 6 + tc. I’m just starting to like the LC looks but can’t they just stick a straight 6 or even a nice torqy diesel in it??

Haha love it, I agree the us land cruisers are nice but they ain’t a Land Cruiser!

Ya something is up, but even with the press release coming in April from mothership Toyota, idk if we will ever find out what the deal is.

Pure rumor from gx forum, the recalled engines in the 2024 were us built engines, to meet the demand for gx sales. Which would make sense like you mentioned on the Japan made units.

Our gx I for the 10 yr extended. Money well spent imo with all the stuff in that, it’s like a spaceship compared to my taco lol

Ya they fit, but our goverment won’t allow it. Ya know, epa knows best…..

I’ve owned 3 5th gen 4Runners. Still have two of them, one for each daughter. I wanted a GX. Really liked the way it drove. Gave up on the artificial high demand deal due to low production numbers. Hated the hybrid Landcruiser. Ended up buying a 25 4runner off road non hybrid premium 6 months ago. Wasn’t really in love with the motor, but it was 30k less than the GX, and I gave it a shot. Bottom line, it’s better than the 5th gen in every way. I get around 19-20 mpg driving 80plus on the fwy. It’s unstoppable in big snow. Super comfortable. Engine has plenty of power, and I don’t know where the previous guy got the turbo lag idea from. There is none. Engine has a diesel feel to it, just plenty of power from the get go. I was worried about taking a chance, now when I drive the 5th gen I realize what a dinosaur it is. 5th gen is gutless, always has been. But it is proven dead reliable. This version feels the same, but I only have 15k miles on it.

That’s been my experience as well.

Like I mentioned before, give it another 3-5 years and people will be raving about the 2.4. It’s a solid engine and trans combo. They knocked the 6th gen t4r outta the park!

Like most turbos, they will probably need replacing around 100k miles. Not a big deal for people who are able to move to new rigs every few years. I keep my vehicles a long time, so I'm quite happy with my 5th gen so far.

Another old school myth. I know plenty of ecoboost owners with over 200k on stock turbos, 100k is nothing for a turbo on a modern vehicle with proper oil changes. 10k is too long, 3-5k and they drastically increase the life. If anyone knows about turbos, it’s Toyota, they have been doing it forever all across the globe.

Diesels are completely different, but the oil cooled turbos are the same concept. Clean oil extends the life of them.

Changing a turbo on those 2.4 if it’s needed is a cake walk also do to able access. Can get it from the top or bottom.

I’m used to it working for Cummins and doing engine rebuilds daily, but turbos are not crazy complicated like people think.

Promise I can chance a turbo on a 5.9/6.7 Cummins faster then most people can change a set of plugs on a 3.5 3rd gen taco or 4.0 5th gen 4 runner lol

The new FJ is getting the non-turbo 2tr-fe 2.7 I4. It's also not coming to North America.
Has that been decided? Last I heard the us version was slated to be released in 2029, wouldn’t shock me if that got canned.

Toyota time line has been push back every since covid. All the newer stuff got pushed a few years it seems.

Maybe. My experience as a tech for 12 years tells me that most turbos are replaced around 100k.

Yeah, Toyota had it at autoshows and did press releases last fall.

Ya all comes down to maintence and how stuff is treated, brand as well.

I never had an issue getting 300k outta set of injectors for a 5.9/6.7 yet I’ve replaced 1000s with less the 100k on them for customers.

Guessing most didn’t change fuel filters like they should or even think about a secondary fuel / water separator.

I love driving me some boosted cars and trucks though! Hard to go back to na once ya get used to the instant torque and power.
