I've done both VT and PA. Both are good times. Select an early nock time than after 1:30pm you can walk onto another course.

I've gone in the past with my fiance(now wife) and my buddy/his fam and we camp out for the weekend and would do 2 courses/day.

Just go into TAC to have fun and remember no one cares if you walk closer to a target to shoot - I've walked in closer on some targets, hell people bring their kids who walk up to 10 yards to shoot a target.

It’s a good time, I wouldn't hesitate to shoot another if I was already going to be in the area. Here’s a few tips:

1) dozen arrows is plenty, if a target is out of your comfortable range, most you can walk up to a more reasonable one after everyone shoots

2) try to get in a good group! My first morning shooting I somehow got in an influencer/youtuber group and it was rough. The rest of my shoots were a lot better. If you are solo when you get there for your knock time, you have a window. If you don’t get a good feeling from who you show up there with, just say you’re going to hang back and wait on a friend then join the next group

3) get an early nock time if you want to shoot multiple courses a day. I shot big sky last year and several courses were running 5/6 hrs.

4) pay attention. Everything is marked but some areas not so great. Multiple times people would just kind of show up down range or behind target, wouldn’t hurt to not wear camo 😂

5) bring rain gear, water and snacks. Some courses are long, but nothing is too crazy. My 6 year old walked 2 courses with me so don’t be shied away from any.

That’s all great info! Thank you!

The “influencer” this is funny

So wearing camo might actually hurt haha

Shooting my first one in OK
Group of 4 of us

Never been but can guarantee based on previous experience with the area, misses will result in busted arrow

Shooting for the experience and to better myself
Shoot the same setup I hunt with

TAC is very fun
can be a little overwhelming your first time but like previously said if you don't feel comfortable at the long distance just move up to a closer range and take your shot.
good boots, water, snacks and most important a good attitude

Oh, I’m shooting all the long stuff. I’m now planning to do a few modifications to my setup to maximize what I get for yardage out of my bow/sight. The more I think about it the more I feel it’s no use shooting at a 100yd target with my bow that I have setup to 40. I shoot very small stabs and little weight to keep my setup streamline. I’m gonna have fun putting together something a little more purpose built for TAC.

Did you register, last I looked Friday and Sunday still had slots?

We are shooting Prime Friday Morning and Sitka, Saturday morning. Don't worry about the 125 yd shots as most people are guessing at that range. I run cheap light weight arrows other wise I shoot my hunting bow. My sight runs out at 100 so I use Kentucky windage after that. The long distance shot is in a open area so even if you do not hit the target (most don't) you will probably find that miss.

If you look close you will see several arrows stuck in the tree.

We found 5 arrows that you could not see buried in the dirt under a target while looking for an arrow.

For sure! I was 38th in the queue and was checked out 1st tier on Friday and Saturday by 11:08!

Friday will be Jack links and then we’ll try to shoot the Sitka course in the afternoon and then Saturday morning I got Prime. We’ll see how it all goes and the Leupold course is on the chopping block if we want to shoot something else.

I’m pumped. I’m building a bow setup for max range. I’m not messing with trying to shoot my whitetail rig that’s meant for 40 and in.

Now just need some good weather!!

You were just ahead of me, I was 45 in the queue. We are shooting first tier both days. The worst part can be getting a slot so now we just have to hope for good weather. I just bought a new setup so I will be spending a little extra time getting everything dialed in this year.

Enjoy
