Top 5 Food bars while backpacking

David bars for when I want the max protein per calorie and still have it taste good.

Built puff or Magic Spoon bars if I want a desert type bar that still has reasonable macros.

Gatorade recovery bar for backup food (meal replacement).

I just bought some of the Bobo pb&j bars from Walgreens to try. They had the 4 packs for $2.99. I bought 5 boxes, hoping I like them as much as some of you folks

For those who tolerate stevia as a sweetener, IQ bars are high in protein and tasty to me. Only 1 gram of sugar per bar. The chocolate ones taste like a brownie.

Downside is they re a bit more expensive unless they are purchased at Costco.

I ended ordering two boxes (variety pack) of Sans bars. The first thing that stands out is the ingredient list—five or six ingredients and that’s it!

They taste pretty good (honestly have never ate a bar and said these taste great! :D), high calorie and keep good.

I’ll be sticking with the Sans bars for a bit anyways.

They also make for a good impromptu scope cover :ROFLMAO:

Usually look for something high protein. I’ve usually got jerky and in the past I ate Cliff Bars. Took some Built Puffy Bars this year and good lord they are good. They taste like they should be bad for me but they’re pretty high protein. Only downfall is you have to be near a water source when you open one because they’ll dry a mouth out quick.

I dropped all the bars and switched to homemade pemmican and jerky. Those two with maybe some hard boiled or pre-fried eggs and cheese are the only things I eat during the day. Then meat and rice for dinner typically. My energy level is a lot more consistent throughout the day since I made the switch a few years ago away from carb-based bars
