Tonneau covers

Coolers, bags of feed, shoot whatever. Trying to keep the bottom clean and to add extra room.

Maybe my quad based on the feedback I get. Quad is only 400 pounds so in theory it should be fine with the Xtang.

I like the Diamondback but would prefer it open more for access for tall items

How tall of stuff you want to haul? You can take the gas shocks off each side and lay it on its self and strap the back to the front. Or it’s off in less than 5mins

The more I look and read and watch YouTube the more I want the Diamond back. I just am not sure about not having more room when I fold up the panels. Specifically for a dog kennel.

Anyone able to give some insight/ thoughts to that?

What size of kennel? My truck is in the shop getting worked on and I can measure it so you can see. But it is does depend on your bed size too

I too am looking for a cover. My problem is that twice a year I pull a fifth wheel. I also have a toolbox in the bed of my truck behind the rear window. Truck is 2016 F350 DRW. Love the Diamondback but just don’t see it being practical with the fifth wheel hitch. Any ideas?

Backflip works for 5ers, and they also sell the Bakbox toolbox. I'm planning to pull the trigger on that myself soon.

Is the tool box below the bed rails? If so I’m sure you can still use it. My dad has a 5th wheel hook up on his and we put painters tape on the bed where the middle section goes and it comes off and on easy. I bet I can get it off and back on my self in less than 20mintes. I had a tool box and use the tool bags instead now.

Perfect timing on this thread popping back up. Just bought a new truck and looking to get a folding tonneau cover after having a roll up soft one on my last truck.

I spoke with a vendor this morning and he told me that the Extang EXT-84725 - Extang Solid Fold 2.0 Tool Box Tonneau Cover is what I needed. It works with my existing bed toolbox as well at fits my full bed truck. Ordered it this morning. $999 shipped freight. It's got 4 quick-disconnect fasteners to remove it when I need to pull the fifth wheel.

I have had a Diamondback for 4 years. I really like it. I bought it to haul my SXS. The limited options for hauling stuff is annoying though. I bought a trailer for the SXS about a year ago and if I was to buy something for a bed cover now I would probably go with something more versatile like the fold ones. I plan to have a 5th wheel camper in the near future and will switch to a folding one then.

Tcpip95 I've got that exact cover and would not recommend it. The securing latches are flimsy and cheap. All they are is a piece of plastic on all thread...very cheesy and hard to work in the cold without the worry of breaking. I would go a different route if doing it again.

Tcpip95 I've got that exact cover and would not recommend it. The securing latches are flimsy and cheap. All they are is a piece of plastic on all thread...very cheesy and hard to work in the cold without the worry of breaking. I would go a different route if doing it again.

How old is your setup? I saw a YouTube video that show the 1st gen latches and they were easy to breach. In fact even the manufractures commented on the video and said they reworked them to make them better in version 2.0. Do you have the new ones?

I got mine in October of 2021 for my Tundra. I initially wanted a topper, but they've got a super long lead time right now. I probably will still get the topper at some point. The tonneau isn't 100% waterproof either. It is nice being hard, due to the fact that it supports weight on it. My buddy has the aluminum one that rolls up and I think that is a FAR superior cover. One hand operation to open it, where with this one you go to each side for the latch. I had high hopes, but am not impressed. I wish I would have just waited and put the money towards a topper. I can get you pictures if you would like.

I bought the diamondback se after reading this thread. I have had it only a month and recommend it. I bought the one that only holds 400 lbs so the panels are lighter for removal.

Biggest question I have on the tri-fold is do they fold up all the way? I have seen pictures of one brand where it was laying up against the back window but can't seem to find it again.

I will have a locking tailgate. Would prefer something that can handle a little bit of snow load since it will reside in northern Wisconsin.

I saved some $$ and just a hard cover that only flips up twice so the section behind the back window doesn't move, wish spend the extra cash to have all three move. My buddy has a metal roll up one that works really nice. You lose maybe 5-6 of the bed for the box that the cover rolls into not bad, he has a long bed anyhow.

Going to add a set of Billie Bars when I get this paid down.

Only negative is when you take the lids off, you left with a cross bar they mount to. Supposedly not too bad to remove the whole thing. Not something I'd want to do often.
