Thanks for sharing! If I only read what was in the popular press I would think the North American wolf population was down to the last dozen or so. I hope we never see numbers like that here in Colorado.

Got the first one at close range and the other one trotting along at a bit over 300 yards. I think we were both surprised.

I like a 270. Several wolves have been shot incidental to hunting big game. I’ve used on wolves a 17hmr (1) 204 (3) many with a 220 swift, used a 264 a fair bit. A half dozen or so with a 30-06 and about the same with a 300 wsm and one with a 300 weatherby. Lately a very accurate 7mm rem mag has tipped over a few of them.

awesome man!! how are you hunting them when you target them? those black ones are insanely pretty animals.... if i ever have an opportunity to whack a wolf, i hope it's one of those black ones, that would be a cool animal to rug out... the faces on those black ones are awesome too.... very cool animals, but they need to be kept in check (cougar are my favorite critters that walk this planet but i kill every one i get a chance at... heck, i like coyotes too, they don't just survive in a huge range of habitats, but thrive... cool animals, but again, need to be kept in check)

any of the above mentioned, if we see any of them regularly, there are too many, they are all incredibly elusive animals, and if you regularly see elusive animals, there are a bunch of them (add bear to that list)
