To trust a Beast broadhead?

Hi all,

I drew a September archery New Mexico elk tag for the first time. I know there’s some research out there but those of you that have shot the Beast broadheads step up and tell me. Can this be trusted on an Elk? I am seeing mixed reviews. I would probably shoot the 100 grain titanium’s or maybe 125’s. Let me know your thoughts. I am also trying to find some gear to complete my list before this hunt if you have a Frame pack let me know .

I wouldn't want to walk around elk country with a broadhead I can't close unless I wear finger condoms.
That said, yeah, they'd kill.

My brother used them last year and shot a mule deer doe. She whirled when he shot and it clipped her neck. Not ideal at all but it was brutal.

I have a buddy that shoots them for white-tails and mulies and loves them. That said deer aren't elk... I'm just leery of the spring inside the head. That said I shoot Rage Hypo's and the G5 T2's that most people say are garbage for small game more less elk, without any issues ever.

Shoot what you are confident in and most likely everything will be fine.

Just get the Sevr 1.5 hybrids.

125 2.0 Ti and Terra Firma Gladius will be in my quiver. They both shoot lights out and I will be in units with long shots so the forgiveness they provide means a lot to me. I will shoot my two antelope with the Beast to see the performance and determine if they will get a chance during elk season. Definitely worth using for extended range follow-up shots.

If you cant trust the manufacturer, no reason to trust the broadhead.

Just get the Sevr 1.5 hybrids.

I want to shoot the SEVR over the Beast but the stories of 1 blade breaking allowing the "swivel" technology to fold the remaining blade into the feral making it a field point is keeping me from putting them in my quiver. Unless they have made a change to fix that?

A friend of mine shot a 6x6 in Colorado last year at 86 yards with a beast and it went 70 yards with a great blood trail. Hit a rib going in and nicked one going out, complete pass thru. He will be shooting the newer version this year along with another local guy that killed 3 deer with one head here in Kansas last year.

Not sure what the Lusk review on the beast is, but between his review and the arrow ballistics study recently released by Yates, I’m pretty confident that a Sevr will be a pretty reliable head to throw in the quiver. I’ll personally have 3-4 Sevrs and 1 G5 T2 most likely.

Lust review on Beast is great. Placement is first and foremost. A Beast head will kill an elk

Your total arrow weight and speed are the most important part of the equation.

If you shoot 200fps and 350gr arrow - wouldn't use...vs if you shoot 285fps and 450+ gr arrow any broadhead will be fine.
