Gaining Elk experience

I drew 77 first rifle this year as well and will be my first time in Southern CO. Highly unlikely i will be making a scouting trip before season. Buddy of mine hunted 77/78 last year an said to pay attention to motorized/non-motorized areas, especially during first rifle when they start getting pushed from the 2-tracks come opener.

Was also told that water is more scarce than some of the other places we have been in CO/MT with similar elevations and terrain. If anyone has comments on water in the 10k+ range, let us know..... Always too difficult to tell whats really going on from onX and google earth.

Good information, if I ever find interesting observations about the Unit I will shoot you a DM. I am hoping in 3-4 weeks I can make a trip for an initial scout of the area.
