Titanium collar not flush with carbon HIT. Thoughts?

Is there any disadvantage to leaving the titanium collar .020 further out from the carbon with a HIT system? .020 is right where my broadhead would seat tight against the Ti collar. Collar would be set with epoxy. Or would it be better to just set it flush with the carbon?

Is there a lip in the collar that butts against the carbon? Or could the collar slide full past the end of the carbon?

If there's a solid stop at that point with the collar, I'd be ok with it, otherwise I'd want the BH butted against the shaft end, and the collar is essentially reinforcement against the shaft mushrooming rather than point on force.

Yeah there’s no lip there. I guess I was theorizing that maybe if it was sticking out slightly, it could give way on a bad impact and take some initial shock.

The collar is taking the impact if you leave it out a little bit.

I would think that having it flush with a milled end of carbon having the insert, shaft and sleeve all working together to take the impact would be preferable.

BTW, it would be worth making one up and testing them in your target media. You might not like it.

Some of those collars make it a real biotch to pull your arrows from the bag and carpet bale targets.

For it to give way, the insert would also have to break loose in the shaft. (I think)

You're missing out on using the strength of the carbon end in addition to the other parts.

That’s true. Yeah I guess I’m trying to overthink it. Just go flush how it’s designed and go shoot.

I don’t shoot bag targets typically, but I have a test arrow already. Then I got sidetracked about maybe pushing the collar out. I’ll go flush.
