For it to give way, the insert would also have to break loose in the shaft. (I think)Yeah there’s no lip there. I guess I was theorizing that maybe if it was sticking out slightly, it could give way on a bad impact and take some initial shock.
I don’t shoot bag targets typically, but I have a test arrow already. Then I got sidetracked about maybe pushing the collar out. I’ll go flush.The collar is taking the impact if you leave it out a little bit.
I would think that having it flush with a milled end of carbon having the insert, shaft and sleeve all working together to take the impact would be preferable.
BTW, it would be worth making one up and testing them in your target media. You might not like it.
Some of those collars make it a real biotch to pull your arrows from the bag and carpet bale targets.
