If worrying about this is someone's biggest issue in life, they should consider themselves extremely fortunate.

But I do wonder how many folks that feel strongly about this would jump at the chance to be in the athlete's shoes.

How does one jump to this being someone's biggest issue in life? Rather hunting/fishing is a hobby I very much love and enjoy in my free time, so I would be compelled to express a concern while proposing a question about people exploiting hunting on a hunting forum... lol

You watch too much tv/social medias. Go live your life and ignore the things that bother you. Easy.
You obviously don't know me, but no I rarely partake in social media platforms. However, in todays day and age do to this forum and targeting advertising based on my interests (hunting/fishing) its pretty hard to not at least acknowledge the existence of these things.

Who cares really?
Stop watching if it bothers you.
These guys won't have any impact at all on 99% of the folks on this site, hunting or otherwise.
Seems like just another silly thing to complain about that only bothers you if you let it.

I have NO IDEA who or what you are talking about? But then i also have zero media accounts outside of forums.

Moral of story, delete all your mainstream social media accounts and your problem instantly vanishes out of your life.

I'm not against them being out hunting on big expensive private ranches or enjoying the outdoors... but do they really need to start a hunting YouTube channel/podcast and be a walking billboard influencer for outdoor companies just because they have a following from being a pro athlete? Being given free equipment, being on a private land guided hunt, and having friends who are legit killers doesn't suddenly give them the credentials to tell other people/give advice on how to hunt. If they want to be retired and hunt as much as they want then good on em, but promoting themselves and those sellout companies for their own financial gain is weird.
How does a company get to be a sell out company. Do we have list compiled so the purist can avoid them? Isnt a job of a company to make money so how is financial gain weird?

I started to care when the ability to buy tags I have bought for years suddenly became exponentially harder to get because people want to profit off of become a hunting celeb

Yeah, because the big bad celeb hunters that almost exclusively hunt private ranches are the only factor why tags are getting harder to draw lol.

We only have basic cable so I don’t watch the outdoor channels hunting shows & don’t care too. I think of it in regards to if I would I like to spend a day with that outdoor TV or YouTube personality or not. Most of them, no. They’re only there for the recognition & to market product on too many commercials.

I tell you what, though, …. I’d definitely like to
spend a morning or afternoon with Leron & Porkchop or maybe Troy Landry! 👍

I'm running a #7 Shad Rap with leadcore and a flurocarbon leader 100ft back at 1.5mph just on the edge of the thermocline. That being said, I get a kick out of the members telling the OP to get a life when they have thousands of post over a few years of being a member. I understand what the OP is referring to and I think you will see this because most athletes have to put their passion of hunting to the side to focus on their career. Once retired, they now have the time and money to pursue that passion. I think that for some, sharing the trials and tribulations of hunting is just a carryover of their professional career and now they may not have to live under the constraints of what the organization may or may not allow to do on social media.

I'm aware of a couple hockey guys with their own business for hunting apparel. Without knowing the whole story, they probably love hunting and are hard workers.
Flip side is a brand spokesperson like Shac selling the General car insurance.

Would you rather see them in an anti-hunting agenda?
I'd rather see them just enjoy hunting and the outdoors without plastering it all over social media outlets to stay relevant or collect extra $$ at the expense of wildlife

No one said its a sole factor issue and not necessarily them as the individual, but the constant highlight reels they display to the thousands/millions of people. How many posts have you seen along the lines of "want to go on my first ever DIY solo self filmed backcountry archery elk hunt" followed by what state should I hunt and tips for how to hunt them? To think social media and hunting celebs hasn't contributed to increased tag applicants is egregious lol.
