If you get into Montana in gumbo country and it rains, stay out of it. Chains are just something else for it to stick to!

Chains are a necessity. I did not have them for years. One time sliding sideways in the snow headed for a 30 foot deep ravine was all it took. One of those "life flashing in front of your eyes" moments. Worth their weight in gold when you need them. Mine are made by Laclede. Just chaining up the fronts seems to get me safely where I need to go.

I always have a set of chains for the front along with a Hi-lift, 50' of steel cable, a tow rope and a shovel. Combine all that with a 2000 toyota tacoma, super charged, lifted with 33" BFG KM2s and a locker in the rear and I am almost unstopable - almost.
Hi-Lifts are a must have - not much you cant do with one.
