Time for a new waist belt?

Do you guys ever replace the waist belt on your pack? My SG pack is five years old and sees a lot of use. I use it year round. I feel like the waist belt is not as supportive as it used to be. Could the foam be breaking down from all the use?

The foam absolutely can and will break down with use. Five years can be a long time depending on how often you use the pack.

Thank you. It not only has been used for lugging out a bunch of meat each year, I've hauled a lot of good sized rocks out, and place weights in the load shelf quite a bit for training. And it's used every time we just go for a hike.

Waist belts, shoulder straps, lumbar pads, 100% get replaced over the life of a frame and pack.

I just reached out to SG about replacing my lumbar pad and they shipped me a new one for free, no questions asked. First hike with it felt great, I didn’t realize how flat my old one had gotten. My shoulder straps and hip belt still feel ok.
