Yea I’m officially in love with this setup. I think I’m going to build something off the T3x Superlite.

Thanks for the encouragement showing my it’s possible with more economical components.

I bought one 6 years ago after a goat hunt. I was totally burned out on packing a 10 1/2 pound rifle. After a ton of research I went this route. Since I put this gun together 3 hunting partners switched over to the same setup. One of them went with the 4-14 vxiii. I run the 3.5x10vxiii. I now have several tikka’s. All with the flutted barrel. All shoot lights out! Heck I bought a Roughtech last winter in 6.5 and it shoots groups under 300/1000ths

I'm considering adding a brake. I've read in a few places that gunsmiths refuse to thread this because of how thing the muzzle wall is. Have any of you added a brake, specifically on a 300WM Superlite?

Here is mine exactly how I pack it. 3 in the mag and 5 on the stock. I did have the bolt fluted, changed the bottom metal and added a titanium/carbon bolt handle on it.
I won’t lie, it’s got a bit of recoil, but it’s never left a mark on me. Its money to 700 and beyond, but the furthest I’ve shot anything it was around 570.

Rather than threading, I added a clamp-on brake from Grizzly Gunworks to my T3 270wsm barrel. Works great.

I have a custom Tikka that's pretty light! Carbon 6 6.5 PRC in a Manners. Send me a PM if you want to spend alot.

$$$ ouch $$$ ;-).

I thought I wanted to spend a lot. There was a custom 300PRC offered to me which would have been amazing but I couldn’t stomach the expense. That’s why I’m coming in for a landing on planet earth with lower cost rifles.

I bought my 300wm superlite used (10 rounds fired) with a brake already on it. It’s a pussycat ok recoil and very accurate. Swapped out the stock for a McMillan Game Scout. It’s a pleasure to carry and shoot.

With that said, I am considering getting rid of it. It shoots the Nosler Trophy Grade 180 gr Accubond very well. Problem is that my muzzle velocity sucks. For shorter ranges it’s great but long distance it isn’t great to have that pill leaving the muzzle around 2,650 fps.

Those speeds don’t seem right. Does your rifle have a shorter barrel?

I am shooting nosler trophy grade 180 gr accubonds from a tikka t3 lite In 300wsm. At 2850fps.

Just what I’ve recorded

So part of my issue is that the chronograph is a Magnetospeed and it wouldn’t read. Not sure if it is the light contour bbl or the brake but it just won’t read it.

Zeroed at 200 and shoots tight. Moved to 500 and it was way low. Calculated and redialed. Hit a 3”x3” painted square on the target dead center multiple times. Used the adjust MOA to back into the muzzle velocity.

Which twist rate is yours?
