I bought the Tikka T3x Compact 20” in .308 in Jan. 2023, the twist rate is 1:11. All previous 308 and ‘06 rifles I owned had a 10”twist with one ‘06 grouping 150, 165 & 180 gr loads very well and without a scope adjustment, so I was a little hesitant on a 11” twist. From what I had read the 11” twist is good for bullet weight weights in the 170-200 gr range so I bought the Tikka. This rifle groups very well with Rem Core -Lokt 180 gr SP ammo. I also tried Hornady Whitetail 150 & 165 gr Interlock loads which didn’t group well at all. Not sure if it was the bullet weight or Hornsby brand or both. I normally don’t like to go below 165 gr or above 180 gr for whitetail.
If anyone here on Rokslide has experience with shooting lighter bullet weights in the ..308 with an 11” twist I’d appreciate hearing your comments . I don’t reload anymore so my options will be limited probably.
I noticed the change to the Tikka website in Jan ‘24 regarding twist rate. Thanks
