I’ve been looking and cannot find a definitive answer. Considering ordering a T3x stainless in 243. I’d like it threaded for 5/8x24. What length would it need to be cut at or is this even possible? I don’t have the rifle to measure this myself.

1) Is this for a suppressor or a brake?
2) Are you willing to run an adapter?
3) How much shoulder do you want/does your manufacturer recommend/does your gunsmith require?

Those answers will drive the overall feasibility. For example, TBAC recommends a minimum of 0.725" for threading 5/8 and attaching one of their suppressors. If you try to get there on a factory T3 Lite profile, you'll end up with a 6" barrel.

Lots of people will either thread to 1/2" and then install an adapter or send it off and have someone install a custom adapter to get them to 5/8". @thinhorn_AK has the most popular example that immediately comes to mind.

I am very new to all of this, my plan is a Nomad Ti on a Tikka 243. I’d like to go with a direct thread if possible but obviously if that doesn’t work I’d use an adapter. I have not reached out to a smith yet.

Not going to happen with 5/8x24. Peak to peak of threads in 0.625. My barrel behind a tbac mount is 0.656. That's not enough meat to shoulder the suppressor against. You can just not a great idea. I Thought about spinning up an adapter to help with that but decided against it looking at the numbers.

Typically have 0.140 over bore to top of thread. So for 243 can do 1/2x28 or 9/16x24?. I threaded mine at 9/16x24 for 30 cal.

Hope that helps.

since its a 243 why not just stick with 1/2x28. im having my tikka in 7-08 cut to 19 in order to thread 9/16x24. at 19 inches the barrel measures .660 so unless you are willing to cut down to 16 inches you wont get a 5/8x24 thread that has enough shoulder to be useable.

I just measured mine, in order to hit the minimum diameter for 5/8x24 it would need to be cut back to 10”. My .243 cal is threaded 1/2x28 and supporting a direct thread suppressor no issues.

5/8-24 is no problem on a TIKKA at 18 inches. You will need a coller installed. Contact ADCO Firearms. I have a 308 and 6.5 Creed threaded as such.

That’s what I did to mine. Similar to the one posted above. It works great, I’m glad I went this route and will continue to do this.

I'm having a Tikka T3X lite 6.5 cut down right now, was told 22" for 1/2-28 and 16" for 5/8-24.

Told them cut it to 21" and thread 1/2-28 and I will get a YHM qd flash hider 1/2-28 to mount my suppressor on.

If your not wanting to cut the barrel shorter, go 9/16x24 and rocksett your 5/8x24 adapter. That's what I did to my Sako. Easy, works just fine and direct threads to my suppressor.

I’m having a lite threaded right now. Gun smith said he’s gonna have to go 9/16x24. I’m having him cut it to 20”

I'm also interested in chopping down and threading a factory Tikka. Does anyone know if the Tikka "Lite" rifles actually have a thinner barrel contour than the "Hunter," "Forest" and "Laminated Stainless" versions, or are they the same?
