Tikka T3x Stock Replacement - UPR vs B&C

That could be. My understanding of a chassis stock, are a larger aluminum “frame”, inside a squared-off, blocky looking benchrest kind of thing. This is a hunting rifle and I prefer a more traditional looking stock for that.

I like the looks of the B&C, but have not seen one in person. That aluminum recoil lug will probably be the deal-breaker for me. This would be on a .30-06, with a second possibly going on a .300 WM.

To me, I thought the B&C had an aluminum, full bedding block. Is that considered a chassis?

Functonally Its kind of same\same when youre talking about a full bedding block—around that, its just the shape of the stock. Sounds like you are more concerned with aesthetics, but the shape is also functional. I guess Id personally probably consider other factors in picking a stock, ie am I shooting prone mostly versus offhand mostly, etc, finished weight target, optic height, etc and choose between those or get other options based on those criteria. Ultimately if you choose based on looks and its not as good a fit for use, you wont be happy.

Is the UPR stock a laminate like fiberglass or carbon, or is it a molded plastic like a souped-up t3x lite or ctr stock? Or something else?

i think your definition of a chassis is suspect. A chassis is simply a machined metal inlet that the action sits into, example manners stocks with a mini-chassis. The b&c is a mini chassis with a sporter stock built around it, just like the manners. A bravo is more or less the exact same thing with a more adjustable/modular stock built around it, like a half-way point between a stock and a full-on chassis such as a MPA or MDT chassis like you see on a lot of PRS rifles. Aside from weight and “squareness”, much of the difference is at least in large part cosmetic. Someone will get their underwear in a bunch over that, there are legit functional differences due to the shape, but often favoring the chassis over the stock. Regardless, It doesnt sound like a chassis per se is what you dont want, what exactly is it that you dont like about a chassis? That might help focus replies on what youre looking for.

The krg echo might be one to check out—it’ll be like a sporterized version of a bravo.
Re the b&c recoil lug. How much will this gun get shot? What cartridge is it?

I have several Tikkas that I have changed stocks on.
Bell and Carlson is nice for the money.
For a little more you can get a Grayboe. I’m very pleased with my Phoenix 2.
I also have an MDT HNT 26. It’s a “chassis” but super light and comfortable.
My last build has a Manners LRH, this is probably my most favorite.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but you're one of the first people I've seen mention the victor cheek rest. Did you go with the titan or the gripper? Is it truly universal or does it have some weird play in it? Thanks

I have installed them on two different rifles. One was a wood stock Boyd’s laminate and the second is on my CZ457 Manners. I was bit nervous since they are fairly inexpensive. Overall I am super satisfied! I will attach a few pics.

KRG Echo. 6.5 PRC. MT 20 MOA rail. Ruff's Precision rings. Maven RS1.2.


Had it in a Pure Precision Altitude. Shot well with that stock, but always wanted a bit more comb and the recoil pad to be closer to bore line. Really like the Bravos, but not in love with AICS mags for hunting. So far very much like the Echo.

Titan. The stock is a tikka roughtech takeoff that I got here on the site. The CTR barrel is just slightly larger than the Roughtech so sanding the barrel channel was a mininum and I free floated it all the way to the action. The only thing you need to consider when taking a CTR and placing it in a different stock is the bottom metal is different. I bought mine at Mountain Tactical, mag ( I had a spare) and mag spring clip. Other than that, its a direct drop in.

Also the Titan comes with shims. My T3 Lite with my 56mm Schmidt Bender Polar has a shim underneath it due to larger objective.
