Tikka T3x Roughtech 6.5 PRC Range Report!!!!!!

Any need for a cheek riser? Just bought a roughtech 6.5 PRC.

I have Talley lightweight low rings with the 44mm objective and I feel it sits low enough that I dont feel the need for a cheek riser.

Did you get the standard sporter barrel channel or the heavy channel?

Update #2! Took it out over the weekend and shot a 3 shot group at 415 yards (the furthest I can shoot on my farm) in a 10mph crosswind. Right at 3", Im starting to really like this gun and cartridge.

I bought the exact same rifle summer of 2023. Hornady 143 grain eldm ammo. Shot a mule deer at 50 yards and a bull at 300 yards in November 23. Both were dead in seconds. Love the rifle!

I love my Kalixteknik CR1 cheek riser. Doesn't need much rise with a Maven RS1.2 and UM lows. A touch heavier than kydex but gives it an OEM look/feel. High Desert installed it for free for me - great guy to work with.

I know this rifle would shoot better in a Rokstok but I love the Gucci-Ember look and feel. Kind of torn...

I do wish the stock had a raised cheek piece - thinking of having a leather one made to tie onto the butt of the stock. Always seems like I have to pull my cheek up a bit.

While not a 6.5 PRC, I swapped my CTR 308 with a roughtech, sanded the barrel channel slightly for good fit. Then I installed a victor cheek riser that uses inserts to get the correct height.

If you don’t mind my asking, how much did you have to sand out of the Roughtech stock to make it work? And what’s the setup weight after completion. I have a couple CTRs and a Roughtech and Veil stock. I’ve been thinking about doing the same thing.

The only thing I couldn't get use to for my hunting situation was the CTR mag that stuck out the bottom. So in changing it out was a "need" for me. I only had to sand very little, however I like to free float my barrels. I also too some SS tubing and added pillars to it to help out. I picked up a plastic bottom metal and mag spring from Mountain tactical. I already had an additional mag from a 30-06, so it worked perfect. Modified my bolt stop, so now the CTR isn't limited to mag length of the standard 308.

Back to the pillars, I extended them to the same distance that the metal washer is recessed in the bottom metal. That was torquing wouldn't flex anything. I have T3 lite in 308 also that drives tacks, but this CTR is growing on me due to the shorter barrel in my tower stands.
