So i picked up this 6.5 at our local Academy tonite. They had it on clearance plus a $75 factory rebate and i walked out with it for $460. I have never owned a Tikka and figured for the money i would give it a try.
Question is should i shoot it as is or do any upgrades to it? And any recommendations as far as scope rings for these?

I got one last year and added a limbsaver airtech pad to it. The factory recoil pads leave a lot to be desired. I also prefer the soft touch vertical grip. As far as scope rings go, I like to use the Sportsmatch TO84’s on my Tikkas. There’s several good options for rings.

I recommend getting UM or Sportsmatch rings (UM lows worked well for me) and a SWFA scope (the 3-9x40 or 6x).

Then consider getting it cut to 18” or 20” (I went with 20”). The OG is the best hunting suppressor on the market. If you want something that prioritizes suppression over weight and length, then I recommend the Reaper or AB Raptor 8 w/ 3” reflex.

If the stock fits you, then use it as is. The $20 factory vertical grip is a popular option. Otherwise, I recommend getting an aftermarket stock of whatever style you prefer. I like the RokStok myself.

I would go shoot it as is. Let the rifle tell you what it needs.

A good example of that is my first T3. I've done nothing to it other than mount a scope. I've been 100% happy with it as is, even though everybody told me the stocks suck and should be replaced. On the other hand is a Benelli LUPO, quite possibly the ugliest rifle I have ever owned. It felt great while handling it in the store. But the weird grip angle puts the trigger hand in a awkward position when shooting at the bench.

I shouldn't participate in online forums before I have had coffee. What I was trying to say is, just go shoot it. Make changes after spending some time on the range.
