Tikka T3X and Mountain Tactical rail. Is this normal?

This is my first Tikka and first Mountain Tactical rail so I don’t have much experience with this setup. Is this normal?

All of the screws appeared to be the same length before install. The front screw is noticeably sticking out from the bottom when everything is tightened down. I torqued them to 25in lbs which Mountain Tactical recommends so I don’t think it’s a torque issue. It doesn’t appear to affect the bolt but I just thought it was odd.

Thanks for any help. Figured someone on here may have run into this before.

It happens. Make sure you have the correct screw in place. If still too long, grind down the screw to make room for the bolt. Easy peasy.

Not MT rail, but I mounted a warne rail (less tactical looking) because I had a set of warne 30 mm rings and had no issues mounting my Optima 6 3-18x56.

Wanted to bump this for anyone using the Mountain Tactical rail and a T3X. I’ve used 3 of them now and had to grind the most forward screw each time. It’s not a huge issue but kinda annoying and something to be aware of.

Same. Get a 419 rail if you need another, it’s a better product imo.

Looks nice @B23 I just prefer a pic rail and rings for more options on ring spacing. I like the Mountain Tactical bases it’s just odd to me that you have to file a screw down. I have 5 total now- 2 on T1X rifles and 3 on T3X rifles. Maybe there’s a reason for it I’m missing.

Anyone had the recoil lug on the rail be too long? I had ordered one for a 300 WM and went to install and the recoil lug was considerably deeper than the hole in the action was. Could be an issue on Tikkas end too. I ended up with a Warne rail.

Call customer service on Monday. We'll work something out for you. We've made them the same for years and never heard that, but like you said, it may be a mis-machining on Tikkas end. Thanks for letting us know...mtgreg

@mtgreg can you provide any info on the screw lengths? I’m not hating on Mountain Tactical I like your rails just curious.
