Is a tikka t3 able to be threaded for a suppressor and if so would accuracy be decreased? If it would work I would be interested in some recommendations.

Quite a few threads on this
Short answer yes it's possible. No it won't hurt precision

Depends on which Tikka and what thread size you're looking for. Some of them like the CTR already come with 5/8-24 threads that you could use to mount a suppressor.

I have a CTR in 308 I shoot with a suppressor. It moves the point of impact about 1 1/2 down at 100 yards versus shooting without it, but I saw no change in accuracy. …and it’s way more pleasant to shoot with the suppressor

I just had a factory .308 barrel threaded 1/2x28 and running an adapter. My smith wasn't concerned with the thickness and said that there are new rifles threaded the same from factory. If I have any troubles I'm going to rebarrel anyway. Shooting a Banish .30

I shoot a SiCoHarvester 30 on two different Tikka's; a 7mag and a 6.5X55, both are superlite fluted barrels. Accuracy remained excellent after threading the barrels. POI shifted ~2" low, gained a little velocity.

My advice, get a light suppressor like the Nomad-ti, Griffin Sportsman, thunderbeast or other lightweight/titanium can.

You have time to decide and shop around; You're likely not going to have it for the 2022 season. Deals can be found around the holidays.

If you're looking to get 5/8x24 threads on the tikka sporter barrel, the issue is usually having enough outside diameter thickness for the suppressor to butt up on. Thunderbeast can do something they call a 'facemount' if you send your barrel to them. There are also gunsmiths out there that will add a tapered shoulder to the barrel at this contact area, such as ADCO. I have one they are doing this to now and will try to post here again with a report. Total cost including threading and shipping is around $200.

Confirm these are 1/2-28 threads and no adapters?

Looking to thread my superlite 6.5C with 1/2-28 omega can.

This is the tapered shoulder and threading on my Tikka, by ADCO Firearms. The diameter of the shoulder is just shy of .75”

I looked at a new Christiansen at the store the other day that was threaded 1/2x28. It was a 300 win mag. I guess that's good enough?

I'd say definitely not. Especially for that cartridge you should be looking for 5/8-24.

Is that just a tapered washer on a factory barrel?
It’s hard to say but it seems higher quality steel than a washer. My suppressor should be out of jail any day now and I’ll be testing the accuracy with it vs without.

To be fair, the tapered shoulder was $20-30 add on to cutting and threading the barrel.

On my tikka I run a thread adapter 1/2x28 to 5/8x24. But that looks much better and would be necessary if not running an adapter. I doubt you will have any issues as long as the surfaces are square and everything is tight.

I'm using an adapter from 1/2-28 to 5/8-24 on a factory Lite barrel and a direct thread Gemtech. I locktighted the adapter it in place and accuracy was unaffected. I'd prefer to NOT have an adapter, but the practical implications seem to be zero. I think I'm on season 5 with this set up.

As mentioned by others, my zero shifted about 2" lower vs a bare barrel. It maintains that zero well though and I mount and dismount the suppressor regularly.

Did my zero check yesterday before it goes to the field next week. All good.

I’ve only put a hundred or so rounds through my Kimber/silencer combo using a thread protector and have had zero issues. I’m guessing my tikka 30-06 is goi g to need an adapter once it’s cut and threaded and I have zero concerns about that.

I had my 6.5 cut and threaded 9/16x24 and have a qd mount with that pitch. Works perfect.

Related and I’m pretty sure I haven’t read it. But anyone running a 1/2-28 in 6.5 with a superlite profile barrel (I and planning to cut to 21.5”) without adapters (straight direct thread).

I'm sending one off to get threaded. It's the compact so it has a 20" barrel. i'm hoping that means it has a larger muzzle diameter and can get 5/8 24. I guess i'll measure when I get home.
