That looks like a great bench rest stock but might not work ideally for hunting applications.

Based on feedback it sounds like the vertical grip is a priority followed by some type of cheek riser and lastly the limbsaver airtech.

Given that this rifle will mainly be for my sons 13/11yrs old to shoot and the fact that its still a 6.5cm, how big of deal is the limbsaver for recoil purposes? Im worried the extra LOP would be a detriment for the kids.

I was also looking into installing a bipod rail which looks like it would require some slight modification to the structural webbing of the stock for the tnut install followed by some epoxy to hold everything in place.

Im still trying to decide if its worth investing the time/$ into the tikka stock or look for alternatives. Aside from stoxkys and the rokstock, the mesa/pure precision stocks seem to be common upgrade.

You mention this is for young teenagers. Make the rifle fit their body well and reduce recoil.

To do so, I’d consider purchasing a T3x youth stock, installing the vertical grip (as previously mentioned on this thread), and then putting a limbsaver recoil pad on. Use a Ruger compact limbsaver recoil pad - some easy DIY modifications needed. Instructions here.

Results in a shorter LOP, lighter, fits young shooters well. Once they grow out of the youth stock the T3X vertical grip can be transferred over to the full size stock that came with the rifle. And the youth stock could be sold with minimal to no loss.

Total cost:
$80-$125 (?) for the compact/youth stock. They pop up here occasionally.
$40 for the recoil pad.

I just completed this for one of my rifles last night. I prefer a shorter barrel and compact stock in some cases - just easier to haul around than the standard longer stock and full 24” barrel configuration.
