Tikka "Rokslide Special", let's see 'em

Roughtech Superlite in 6.5 cm with a Scythe Ti and a NF NXS 3.5-15 with UM lows. Stole the scope off my 7mm RM until I figure out what I want long term.

Hopefully I’ll be able to find a cap that will direct thread to their 15x1 thread pitch so I can ditch the adapter and save 3/4”.

Also have a Titan Cheek Riser and SRS ARCA + Pic on the way.

Haven’t shot it yet but plan to try some 140 & 147 gr ELD-M and 143 gr ELD-X and see what it likes best next week. This is my first 6.5. Super excited.IMG_9401.jpeg

We've all heard of the .223 "Rokslide Special" (RSS) but I have a new concept: "The RSS Heavy" .308 Tikka. When I first got into hunting I wanted to replace my wife's 1970s .308 Remington and stuck with 308 since I didn't know anything. What was important to me was to have one rifle she & I could practice with for relatively cheap and hunt with at short ranges. I put a suppressor and the amazon $15 cheek riser and its a pleasure to shoot.

Federal Gold Medal Match 175s (Prone, Bipod & Rear Bag in the dirt):
Middle 3 rd (zero check after 50 yard bore sight and rough zero, got lucky and pretty much perfect)
Middle Top 5 rd
Top Right 8 rd (all I had left in the box)

Misc "Hunting Loads" and bulk ammo at Top Left, Bottom Left, Bottom Right. I know they are sinful 3 rd groups wanted to see if the rifle liked them.

I keep thinking I should pick up a Tikka 308, if nothing else its because I have something like 4k rounds of 147 fmj for a FAL that I never actually shoot.

I’m impatiently awaiting my wood RokStok lite for this rifle and I need to get the barrel trimmed and threaded, but I am quite happy with the current setup. SWFA gen2 6x scope, UM low rings and level, PRPrecision stainless steel bottom metal, 10-round Mamba Mags. I plan on using either the OG or an AB Raptor 10 on this rifle once I get the barrel trimmed to 16.1”. Apart from the chop job and the new stock, I don’t think I will need anything else.

I hope to get her out to the farm this weekend to test which ammo shoots best in the 1:10 twist barrel.

I’ve been doing some dry fire practice with snap caps and really enjoying how smooth everything feels.

The current weight is 8.5” empty.

This one is my current favorite. 6.5 SAUM, stainless Tikka action, McGowan spiral fluted 20” barrel by Whaley Precision Rifles, KGM R30 suppressor, XLR Element 4.0 mg long action, MDT 5rd Mag. I’m shooting 147 ELD-M’s at 2950fps. I’ve been hunting with it since 2018 and it’s killed at least a couple big game animals every year, no issues.

Scope: Leupold VX5HD 3-15x44 impact 29 reticle.

Tripod: Leofoto LS-254cx + LH-40 + LSC-50

Weighs 8lbs 15oz all setup.
