Well if 77TMKs at 2700 FPS are full of unicorns and rainbows, 80 grain ELD Xs at 32-3300 must come with a get out of jail card....lolololol
All good points. However I need to upgrade a lot of stuff this year, pack, rifle, binoculars, rangefinder, ect. ect. ect. So I need to prioritize where I can and shoot the balls off my AR.Generally, an AR isn’t an awesome replacement trainer for a bolt gun. You generally lose some precision. But also, positional shooting typically changes with an AR vs Sporter hunting stock. Recoil reduction is typically different as well. And you lose the bolt manipulation practice.
Have all 3 and the 243 with 108s at 2916 (best load by far) seems to be the Goldilocks. 1800 fps out to 850 yards at my typical hunting elevation is no slouch. 223 sure is fun to shoot though. If i could absolutely only have 1 rifle for 50 states, all game & it had to be a Tikka, I'd be reeeeally hard pressed not to go with a 1:8 .243
And I love my 6.5 & .223!
Ahhh yeah that’s sick!!I just got a text from my guy.... My .223 RSS is abbreviated, recrowned, cerakoted, test fired & it'll be in my hands next Friday!
I can't wait to get a load worked up (& get my Rokstock, obvs...)

Nice super varmint. Chambered in 223?well here's a before & after ,
How do you like that GRS stock. Been seeing a lot of those lately.well here's a before & after
I'm going to see if this reasoning will work on my wife...I'll let you know how it goes.If budget is tight, you’ll be glad to have the .223. After 1,000 rounds of .223, you’ve saved enough in cash (vs 1k rounds in 6.5cm) to actually buy an additional rifle in 6.5cm.
My daughter got a 6.5cm to "grow into later" as wellMy daughter (9) is wanting to hunt so she has a T3x Lite Compact coming in .223 with a Huron. Oh yeah she's also getting a matching 6.5CM. Ha!
