Tikka in PRS/Nrl hunter/etc

For those of you using Tikka‘s with the standard bottom metal in shooting matches that require more than three rounds. Do you just have your mags setting out ready to go?
Does anybody make a reliable five or 10 round magazine for the standard Tika bottom metal?

The Waters and the NDR magazines are the reliable 10-round magazines for medium or long action cartridges.

The Mambamags are good for .223.

I would not get an MDT magazine.

Tikka makes a 5 round mag. I've shot a few hunter matches with it. If you need more than 5 rounds on an NRL stage, a mag change is the least of your worries usually . I keep my 3 rounder in my bino harness and a 2 round holder on the gun, usually would just pop a round in from the 2 round holder and that would suffice.

If you’re trying to be truly competitive going to an aics platform is advisable, however most are really there for fun/practice etc. Redsnake has a aics bottom metal that fits in a factory inlet with a minor mod to the stick inlet with a file.

You could also try to find a take off ctr stock.

The most annoying part of the factory tikka plastic mags is having them pop out when you are using a front bag.

Get a Bravo or Field stock for it. Has AICS bottom metal. Best mag system for PRS where you will want 10 round mags.

I have 2 3rd mags and the Velcro SAP 2 round holder. Works better than 3 mags which I tried originally.

Works for me but I am not competitive and just shoot for fun/practice.

A bravo and aics mag is not that much more $$ than 2x 10rd mags. Im considering that for the future if I want to play the game a bit more

I am pretty sure all one would need is the CTR bottom metal, and drop the mag retention spring from the trigger group. Then could run factory CTR mags or modded AICS polymer mags.

The bottom metal inlet is the same for the Lite and CTR.

I think the bottom metal inlet is slightly different. Maybe not, I havnt had one in a while.

Just confirmed. The CTR magwell is wider than standard inlet. You're right, I was wrong.

For me to get the 75eldm’s to group I have to load them to 2.44 coal so that requires a Waters or NDR mag. The 73eldm, 75bthp, 77tmk or the 77bthp all work in the Mambas mags. I have not loaded the 80eldm or eldx for 223 but I suspect they would also need loaded to 2.44 or more.

I shot my first NRL with a couple of factory Tikka mags. I got really good at changing mags...

Having a ten-round mag is well worth the price.

If the Waters BM is designed for use with factory magazines, then yes; if it's one of the other models for AICS or their own magazines, then no. Mamba mags work with factory Tikka BM.

I bought that for playing games with my hunting rifle. I enjoy the Tikka mag system so didn’t want to change it. Then I got the echo and couldn’t.

Last year I ran my first PRS style shoot with my tikka I hunt with and factory mags. It was a bit of a handicap but didnt stop me from having fun and being competitive. I put my spare mags in the side pouch of my kifaru bino harness and that seemed to work well. Be warned the PRS stuff is a lot of fun/addictive and Im now rocking a CTR in a krg whiskey chassis with 12 round mags so no more mag changes for me unless mandated in the stage
