Tikka Factory Re-barrel Advice

Gents,

I've got my first rifle, Tikka T3 in 30-06, I want to rebarrel. found out this weekend the wife has an unexpected bun in the oven and my grandiose plans of and spendy build have changed a bit... or a lot...

I'm looking at the factory fluted barrels on the JA Outdoors website in 6.5CM so i dont have to swap bolts (lowering cost) and was wondering what you all think? is it worth it to cheap out and just get a factory barrel and stick with the standard bolt face with the creed vs say a PRC and opening up the bolt face? I've spend all morning searching the forum for tikka factory barrel stuff and know the 6.5 is ample for what i planned to do but havent really found a thread to answer what im looking for. Anyone else do this swap?

The rifle will be my main hunting rifle and want it to be light weight. ill more than likely be shooting the 140 ELDM or a TMK if i can find them. Any stories, advice or suggestions are more than welcome!

I have done a fair amount of swaps now using factory take offs. All of my 6.5cm barrels have been great shooters, I would hardly consider it going the cheap route they are quality barrels. Those fluted d18 profile barrels are a bargain I would have no problem choosing one over a custom barrel if they came chambered and twisted the way I wanted.

I’m waiting for the gun smith to call and tell me my gun is done, I’m pulling my factory 6.5 CM rough tech barrel off and replacing with a barrel I had on hand. I’ve got about 200 rounds on the barrel I’ll sell you for the price of shipping. It’s a good barrel, just had a better one sitting around. PM me if interested.
