Tikka bolt face opened for 6.5 PRC

So, you’re saying I can pick up any 308 based cartridge T3X, put a 6.5 PRC barrel on it, and get the bolt modified and I’m good to go? If it were a .260 or 6.5 Creedmoor could the chamber simply be reamed to 6.5 PRC (and bolt mod..)?

My question as well.

Thanks for info just spoke with the guy about this and wow I may be sending him my rifle. Save buying new barrel too. I have a brand new unfired Tikka T3x CTR in 6.5 Creedmoor and he said the CTR magazine would work good so man I am excited for sure. He would even change the creedmoor to Prc for me to on rifle.

BTW- I have stacked PRC rounds in a std T3 long and medium (Creedmoor only) action magazine and they seem fine!

Shean told me that if it is the Tikka T3x CTR that that magazine will work. don't know about the T3 or T3x they have different magazines.. I believe the wsm would work to and it has the mag bolt face already but would need barrel change. But the 6.5 creedmoor could be ream to 6.5 PRC.

Rechambered Creedmoor shoots great. The factory T3 Creedmoor mag is a little tight so I’ll switch magazines and bolt stops with my 7-08 Ackley that is on a long action. Already tried the mag and it feeds the PRC fine!

Looks like Tikka IS coming out with 6.5prc this year! According to Shot Show vid, time frame is around June.

I had e-mailed them and asked them a couple weeks ago and they told me not at this time I guess the were waiting for shot show or got enough interest to change their minds. kind of messes with my plan as now I will wait I guess and see.

In the shot show video the dude says they are in the testing phase with the 6.5prc (what ever that means) and making it priority to release it by June.

They aren’t designing the cartridge or even ammo.....

Any update on using 6.5 PRC ammo in the CTR mag. I tried some Hornady in my CTR mag and it fits but not much room there. I'd be worried about tip deformation under recoil. ANy real worl experience from actually feeding rounds from a CTR mag? I'm looking to convert my CTR to a this caliber and want to be 100% sure it's doable.

The CTR works. The standard CM will also work if you grind out the ridge inside.

I got Shaen Rifles info fro you guys here on this forum in regards to converting my bolt face for my tikka from Creedmore to PRC. The guy is a stud! It’s not very often I take the time to write a review about someone with good service because in my opinion it should be expected but the guy is just top notch. I ended up sending my whole set up and let him bed the action as well. Just the level of communication and expertise he has at the access of a cell phone made me feel more comfortable using him that my local Smith. After talking to him via text a few times and obviously y’all recommendation I knew he was the man for the job. Bottom line I felt obligated to say thank you to everyone on here for the great referral and if anyone is looking for a good Smith Shaen gets my vote! Good luck
