Show me your Hunting Rig

I have a 17 F250 Long Bed Crew Cab. I do not know a single positive of it for a hunting rig, and dont recommend it to anyone.

I am looking for hopefully a mid/late 90s Toyota, or an early 2000s Tacoma.

Guess that depends on the terrain. My partner has similar with a small lift, 37” tires, fuel cell, on board compressor, and most importantly heated seats. Does great on two tracks though sagebrush and steep dips that stop about any stock vehicle. Ya it definitely does suck on jeep trails.

A basically stock 2003 tacoma and a 2024 honda trail 125 have been working for me gets anywhere I need for my daily or weekend hunts.

I'm working on a Willys MB that was my father's hunting rig. I'm hoping to get it ready for this September moose season. I've been using ATVs since the mid eightys and this Jeep isn't much bigger than sxs.

Nice guys, this is what im looking for. Different ideas and styles. I have used Atvs and side by sides as well. Horses are out of the question as far as owning them but have hunted off of them a few times. I like something like Chris Denman from Western Hunter has. Thanks for sharing.

You actually brought up a excellent positive. I do have heated seats. So driving around drinking busch and lodging bullets at anything that moves while in my truck makes it very comfy.

Depends on where I am trying to get and I can only sleep in one of them.

I sleep in the back. This is about as cheap as it gets to have 4WD/Low Range and a place to sleep. Can be crowded/crammed. But it works!

I prefer this to an SUV. It’s nice to have a separate bed for all the dirty/greasy/bloody stuff. And things can’t easily fly into the cab in the case of a wreck.

Its also my tow vehicle and my daily driver. Wont win any awards getting places others cant go, but it gets me about anywhere reasonable. I’m 6’2” and can sleep full straight with the tailgate closed, BARELY. If its just me I sleep diagonally though. Ive had tacos, even the full length bed is several inches too short for me to lie down. If the weather and bugs permit I prefer to leave the tailgate open both for length and for air flow. It would not be at all hard to make a bug net/weather cover for the open tailgate.

I love this truck, but the 5' bed is killing me. I miss having a 6' bed and sleeping in the back with a cot. If they weren't so damn expensive, a GFC would solve the problem.

I sleep in the back often. Ive got a diesel heater setup for it. keeps things very toasty and dry.

Wall tent and barrel stove and a 11 days worth of crap loaded.

Either my '15 Ram 1500 or my '18 4Runner. 4R is setup to sleep in if I need to, drawers for storage. Usually has a hitch platform on the back for cooler, etc.

My 99 Taco. I love this rig! It was a SAR rig from Bothel fire dept. before I got it. 309000 miles and still going strong!

1997 Jeep Cherokee. Had it for a few years and she hasn't let me down. Sold our 4 seater Rzr. And Got thw jeeo. Love having AC and a heater. Plus we dont have to eat dust all day anymore.

I guess…mine gets the job done, but as soon as it gives up something major I’m going the 4Runner route.
