Looking for any leads on reputable gunsmiths that can thread my barrel. Have the tikka G3X laminate stainless in 7mm mag and the barrel is not threaded, would love to be able to reduce recoil and stay on target after the shot more when solo hunting. Looking in and around the mid-willamete valley in Salem Oregon but don’t mind driving. Don’t want someone that says they can do it then get ghosted for 6 months.

I’m an Oregon guy too and live just out into the coastrange from you. I went through the same thing last year looking for someone local to thread my tikka. Ultimately I decided to just send it to Kampfelds as the guy above said. I didn’t really want to mail it but he was the same price and or cheaper than anyone around and he adds a shoulder to it that looks flawless.
Everyone around he wanted to just thread it and add an adapter. No thanks.
Turn around was about a month, well worth it.
You just strip the gun so it’s just the action and the barrel.

Yeah I was thinking I’d have to end up mailing it unfortunately. Lesson learned to never buy an unthreaded barrel again haha!

Even with some threaded tikkas they aren’t short enough and you end up cutting them down- so it’s always nice to know where to send them

So it’s legal to mail a barreled action and bolt? Last time I just drove my rifle to kampfelds shop and dropped it off but it’s like a 2 1/2 hour drive one way and was tough to find time. Did you just mail yours in the original Tikka box?

Yes. You are not transferring ownership of the rifle and you are shipping to an FFL to have work done. He will ship it back to your front door. And no, once you take it out of the stock, take off the trigger etc it will fit in smaller boxes. Just wrap and pack enough on both ends so it won’t punch through your box.

Copy that. That’s way easier than I thought it would be. Thanks man
