Tikka 6MM ARC / 6.5 Grendel

Picked up my rifle yesterday. Test feeding is showing some issues with the rounds dropping in the rear and the bolt over riding them. Skips #2 every time. I’ll be shooting it tomorrow and getting some video/pics of the malfunctions to email Ascension. Already let him know that it looks like some reworking will be necessary for reliable function. As far as I know I have the only set he has made. At least when I ordered them I was. He absolutely mentioned that and to let him know how they function.

Good to know. Bummer they aren’t working out of the gate. I actually just ordered one the other day, so sounds like I shouldn’t expect much haha.

Already have a response from Ascension. We’ll be talking on the phone this weekend going over the issue. I’ll keep updating as things progress.

Magazine arrived today and has the same malfunction you noted. Works with a single round. 2 rounds in the mag and the bolt rides over. 3 rounds loaded and first will feed, then completely misses the 2nd. If you look down in the mag, the 3rd round will be jammed in the mag at a downward angle.

With OMR bottom metal, I also had to be very purposeful about how the magazine was inserted, otherwise it won’t engage the magazine latch and lock in.

I’ll email them as well.

Not Tikka but 6ARC. I suffered with a Savage Axis metal mag that would feed the first and second one, subsequent rounds were hung up on the bullet tip in a nosedive. Savage has replaced with a full poly mag, no metal, and it feeds perfectly. The only problem is that the new spring is so strong that it’s very hard even for a semi - strong handed man to load rounds 3 and 4. Point being is there may have to be a stronger spring in the Ascension mags too.
