Tikka 6CM

Even if you do reload, the creed is better. I have a fast twist Tikka 243 and chose to get a 6 creed barrel and I reload.
What made you want to switch to the 6 creed? I just got my tikka 1:8 .243. I’m going to keep it as such for now, but I’m interested in hearing from those that started with the .243 and made the switch.

I literally just sent Jake @EuroOptic a message about 6.5 PRC, to build a 6 UM… Then I see all this shit about the 6 CM factory rifle. Decisions decisions. A factory superlight 6 creedmoor with a triji credo would really be great for my mule deer hunt this year.

The differences are small, and I would throw away a good 243 barrel to switch.

Correct throat for the heavy bullets (I have to load heavies pushed back into the case on the 243), and alleged reduction in need to trim brass given the 30 degree shoulder. I'm still working through the 250 unfired cases I have, so not reused brass yet.

The other advantage is I need slightly less powder and I am getting better velocity from the 6 creed.

Other differences I have noticed is 243 feeds a little smoother. With the 6 creed my first sign of pressure is a heavy bolt lift. With the 243 I would not notice a heavy bolt lift until I was leaving a rased ejector mark.

Warning, off topic ramble follows:

I think a 6 SLR would be the best of both, but not worth the effort. 30 degree shoulder, but preserving the case taper for more reliable extraction.

I considered a 6 GT, but given my like of 16 inch barrels, decided I valued the extra velocity potential of the 6 creed more.

I also considered a 6 NSI (6-6.5 PRC), but that is getting into the realm of short barrel life I would rather not mess with at present.

To avoid errors when my kids start shooting more, I think I will avoid using the same case for multiple calibers. So, my fast 22 will likely be a 22 GT, my 6 mm with stay a 6 creed. That way a kid doesn't put a 22 creed in a 6 creed and trash a suppressor.
