It will if properly chambered. Straight Shooter Supply in North Bend Oregon can fix you up. My T3 in 280AI can kiss or nearly kiss lands with the 162ELD-X and fit in the magazine....
Shoots them really well along with Nosler factory 140 AB....

Dhbwa, I was looking to get specific information from someone that has a tikka t3 that rechambered to 280ai. I see that the length is basically maxed out and would just like to hear it from the horses mouth (someone that has had one). Any issues with feeding at all? Any specific limitations you could elaborate on? I have built a few tikka upgraded rifles for friends using a proof carbon barrel and I just want to make sure with extreme confidence that it works. Any advice would be great.

sorry I couldn’t figure out how to write you directly but it seems the response updated on this thread is appropriate also?

Thanks to anyone else that would like to elaborate that has one or either has had one that could help as well. Thanks

I have many Tikkas and feeding is never an issue. Same with the 280 AI. If someone chambers it to match up with the mag box length it’s no problem but even if they didn’t, a lot of rifles shoot great with some jump…..

Wouldn't changing out the Bottom Metal to AI Mags (Red Snake Tactical or MTN Tactical) increase the COAL ability?

Yup if the additional coin doesn’t bother you. I would try as is first

Agreed, I have a T3 30-06 that I've been kicking around converting to the 280AI. I may just pull the trigger on it this next spring and do a stock at the same time. That's IF ammo becomes a little more available. Not being able to buy ammo online sucks...

Not trying to bash anyone so I'll speak vaguely, if you replace the bottom metal/mag length on a Tikka make sure that the action port allows for the additional length, or consult with a smith about if it's possible to safely do what needs to be done to make it feed properly.

Depending on the action, mag, bullet profile, the rifle, the moon phase, etc. you should get reliable feeding as long as you having something like 30-40 thou of clearance. The latter being more desirable if you want to maintain consistent jump as the throat wears.

The good news is that you can always re-barrel without losing any options. Figure out your COL to hit the lands - if you're working within the jump range you want, groovy. If not, you can swap bottom metal and mags. Pretty minimal expense in the grand scheme.

Really ought not be an issue with -06 length cases. LRI also makes Tikka bolts if you decide you want to spend about 50% the cost of a new gun to swap to a magnum/standard caliber bolt.
