You and me both, brother. I spent the dough for the Aussie mags, they’re worth it, but I’d like my functional MT mags before rat shooting in March.

P

I actually called again last week. They were at anodizing and supposed to be available by end of year.

I'm still not holding my breath though lol.

Picking up my new tikka .223 tomorrow. Question for the pros: I’ve got a waters 10 round 2.6” and some of the factory mags. Is there a dramatic benefit to loading them long? Got a bunch of 75gr bthp and lever to start. Is this primarily to shoot some of the longer bullets or are you guys seeing a benefit with the 70-80gr bullets too?

Loading long on the 223 is particularly beneficial because most extruded powders will damn near fill it before pressuring out.

With the factory chamber you’re probably not going to be able to go much more than 2.4”.

The waters mags have been more reliable than factory for me as well. Factory 3 rounders closely follow.

My goal with this gun is cheap practice and easy loading. Ball powders thrown from my harrells. I don’t think case capacity will be an issue. I’ll see how reliability is with the factory mags I guess and go from there 👍🏻

I see this is an older thread but looking for longer mags for the 223 barrel Kampfeld is spinning on my Tikka T3, FWIW it looks like Mambamags are available, MDT created a separate site/brand:

Anyone have first had experience with 223 function in these out of Tikkas?

Those are fricken huge, but are less than a third of the cost of the Waters mags. Have not used the mambas personally but have had good experiences with the Waters.

I would be inclined to call MDT (not the number on the mambamag site) and confirm that site is legit before ever utilizing it. The pricing looks a bit unrealistically low.

2.337 max COAL is less than awesome if you're getting a longer than SAAMI throat for heavies and used to MDT AICS mags with 2.55 or so or Waters with 2.6".

They are 25% more expensive than MDT poly AICS mags. I see no reason to believe they are not legitimate.

The $50 aluminum bottom metal sorta stood out to me for one thing.
They are legit. I called MDT directly, and they confirmed that mambamag.com is in fact their legit sister website.

The bad news? They have been discontinued, not enough demand. So whatever inventory they have left on the website is it. I wound up picking up 2 after seeing @Formidilosus 's post in the 223 thread about them having a much better presentation than the factory 4 round mag. I would have picked up more but the OAL isn't that big of a step up. I would be curious to hear Form's thoughts on in-field experience with these though....might twist my arm into ordering a couple more! ;)
