Hunted Turkey in Maine. Ticks are beyond bad this season. I picked up the Sitka Guard pants, but no back pockets, so I sent them back. How stupid !!!

Any other good tick clothing by Kuiu or another brand ?
I want insect clothing in addition to spraying my stuff down with Sawyers...

I hate those things. One must have attached to my dog in an a place we don’t pet him. It fell off in the hallway and my wife stepped on it, causing it to explode. It took her a minute to figure out what it was and when she did I thought she was going to lose her mind.

Another vote for soaking in permethrin. My turkey hunting clothes (and everyday around-the-farm clothes) get dunked in a DIY permethrin mix every spring. I buy 36.8% concentrate and dilute it down to 0.5% (2 oz concentrate + 1 gal water). Try to find a concentrate that doesn’t say “contains petroleum distillates” on the label. The petroleum-containing concentrates will leave your clothes with a fairly strong diesel-like odor. The odor does wane over time and is a small price to pay for preventing tick bites, but avoid the odor issue if you can.

Along with the treated clothes you can get some soaps to wash yourself in that ticks do not like.

I was using top secret scents body and clothes wash , they discontinued it or went out of business, too bad it worked great and smelled good!

Dr. Bronners tea tree is supposedly good from what I have heard, Eucalyptus oil, Peppermint oil, Lavender oil, Lemon grass oil, Geranium oil, and Cinnamon oil. are all said to be good tick repellents, I believe the top secret had Geranium in it as well as a few others.

Was considering the Guard pants as well as hoody, no back pocket's is kinda stoopid, though it is a couple less places to forget where I put something!

Just looked, there is a soap called tick me off, 3 bars for 35 bux on Amazon.

Rynoskin is another clothing line.

The same "special" people should send me $5,000 for their vehicles extended warranty

I’m one of the special people who wear an Equinox Guard Hoody religiously outside when mosquitoes are around. I get demolished by bugs. They love me, I’ll get 20-30 bug bites sitting around the patio while my wife next to me gets 0. It’s worth every penny to me ha

There's this company in Maine that has a tick guard. I think it's double sided tape around your leg. The webpage is terrible, but I will dig it up.

Don't just spray your clothes with permethrin. Soak them in a five gallon bucket.

19:1 Ratio of water to 10% Martin's permethrin.

3 Gallons of water (384 oz) mixed with 20oz of 10% Martin's permethrin for a 0.5% dilution. Soak for 2-3 hours. Spin cycle in the washer then hang dry.
Never tried the soak. I just mix up a pump sprayer full and keep my gear treated

Equinox Guard Pants have NO BACK POCKETS !!!!!!!!!!! Total Stupidity !!!! with an amazing sock design. I just can't get over girlie no back pockets !!!

Spent 9 full days in Idaho spring bear hunting. Not a single tick, and they were around. I’m sold on the soaking method.

Also, tucked pant legs into socks and shirt tucked in of course. I think the former plays a big role too. Make em travel 3 feet up permethrin impregnated fabric to try to get to ya.

New england is ate up w ticks, bad.

Permethrin. Buy concentrate and either soak the clothes or mix heavy for spray.

Works. $500 pants - thanks anyway. Permethrin concentrate at tractor supply.

I duck hunt like crazy and early teal in flooded rice with blinds on the side of the impoundments are a haven for mosquitoes and ticks. Soaking in a permethrin solution is the only that works. Guys on my lease have all the high dollar gear with bug guard fabric. I’m usually the only one who never has a tick, flea, or mosquitoe bite at the end of the hunt.

Why do you dilute it so much? Why not go stronger ?
or why not just spray the hell out of them with sawyer's ? until they are dripping wet.

and why spin in the washer? why not hang dry ?

A combo of pyrethrin and permethrin. I don't remember, but one of them you can put on your skin, the other only on your clothes. It's been a couple years since I was in tick country in the spring (MO) but it worked. Spent 4 days in tall grass and didn't get a bite. Picked a couple off my boots that were very lethargic, that was it.
