Im going to be cutting and threading my tikka 7mm-08 and wanted input from anyone who has threaded their t3 lite barrels. trying to determine whether to go 1/2x28 or 9/16x24. it is going to be chopped from 22 3/8 down to 19 inches as this is where the barrel diameter is .660 inches. for those that have threaded their tikka lite barrels did 9/16 leave enough shoulder to mount a muzzle device or should I just go down to 1/2x28.

My 300wsm is threaded 1/2x28 for an apa microbastard. I didn’t take any length off the barrel.

Are you going to do it yourself?

If so, I would go 9/16-24. If you are sending it somewhere, I would recommend going with Kampfeld or Shaen Rifles. They will put a shoulder on it and thread 5/8-24. There are a couple of threads in the Firearms section that have pictures of what I am talking about.

i went 5/8-24 with a shoulder since all my AR10s and whatnot have that thread.
doesn't look all that pretty, but ridiculously accurate and that's all i care about.
