I don't see this rifle mentioned very often, but I picked one up in Vias camo in 300wsm on a whim. Having only shot a box through it I can say it has a great trigger and is sub MOA with factory ammo. The action is smooth and supposedly the barrels are the same as the M70. The only thing I don't like is that the comb is a little low for me, but I have that problem with most rifles.

Is there a major weakness that I am missing with this rifle? Seems like a pretty good budget rifle that comes in at 7lbs 12 oz with a Leupold VX3i 3.5-10X40

They seem pretty decent, I have a friend who shot a Caribou with one in .243 (also Vias), I've also seen him shoot it out to 500yds at a local event and he did pretty well, I haven't played around with it much or at all really but for the $$$ they seem good.

How do you like the stock? Does it flex much in the fore end? Overall fit and finish? I have had my eye on an xpr in 300 wsm too but never handled one.

Stock material is very good. Fit and finish is excellent for a sub $500 rifle...in fact I can't find anything wrong with materials or workmanship. The only thing I don't like is the low comb and its a touch narrow at the cheek rest. Both problems will be solved with a cheek riser pad. I'd say go for it if you are on a budget. I like my Tikka T3lite better (not by much), but it was more $.

I bought my daughter a compact XPR .308 for Christmas and ended up liking it so much that I got one for myself as well. For the features you get at that price I don't see how you could beat them, plus Winchester had a $100 rebate at the time. The place I got our rifles from has them on sale pretty regular for $380.00, shoot me a PM if you want to know who. Brad

My opinion is not the greatest since I have not shot mine yet. I bought one from CDNN in 6.5 CM for $350 before the end of last year. Winchester gave me $100 back for buying so total was $250. Kinda hard to beat for the price. The one thing that I see that other guys aren't liking is the stock. I will have to agree. Its just seems cheap, but its a cheap rifle so i cant expect much. Fit and finish seem really good. I like that it has a three lug bolt. I did sent it away to have some work done. I'm trying to make it more custom. To fix the stock issue I bought a Boyd's Pro Varmint with a adjustable cheek. It makes the gun a little bit heavier but I knew that before buying it.

I wish I could say how it shoots but I don't have the gun back from getting it worked on. I will try and keep you guys updated when I do.

PS: I have a 20 MOA rail and a Monarch 5 3-15 X 42 to put on top of it.

What custom work are you having done? I got the same deal as you on my rifle, it was a pretty crazy price. Brad

Pretty interesting. I've been thinking about a knock around 22/250. Might need to take a look at these. Looked at the Ruger American, and TC Venture. Not wild about either. The brother in law bought a TC,still waiting for a turn behind the trigger. How horrible is the trigger on these XPRs ?

Its surprisingly not bad. Its worlds better than the trigger on Savage Axis, and arguably better than the newer accutriggers... unrelated, but I don't know what happened. I had a 30-06 from 2015 and the trigger was awesome, was able to adjust it down to like 2lbs, no creep, no overtravel... the last couple savages I've bought the trigger was terrible.

Trigger is actually really good. I set mine at 3 lbs...clean and crisp break every time.
