There was a trainer at a gym I used to go to. Seemed like a nice dude. One day I walk into the weight room and he’s got nothing on but a pair of boxers and there’s a couple people standing around him. Initially I think he’s doing some bodybuilding poses in the mirror and prepping for a show or something. Next thing I know, he’s in his birthday suit. He starts screaming wildly and running around the gym. This gym had these little glass cubicles where the trainers and gym managers would work. They went up probably ten feet. This dude runs inside of one of them while the staff members are trying to grab and retain him. He jumps up and grabs hold of the top of this cubicle and leaps over the top and down onto the ground. Just superhuman strength. There was a dog pile of like 7-8 people trying to restrain him in the lobby and they weren’t able to hold him down. The cops arrived and I didn’t stick around to see what happened next. Was sad to see him in that state. Psychosis is quite the phenomenon

I always wonder about the people swinging a sledgehammer on a tractor tire. That's oddly specific conditioning. Unless you are getting in shape for wood splitting season, which, I don't think anyone who does this movement in the gym actually splits wood, what are they hoping to gain?

Saw a dude picking at his toe nails while sitting on the lat pull down machine. Another blow drying his twig/berries with a community blow dryer in front of a mirror in the locker room. And a third with matching ladies undies and bra going on under his jeans and pole shirt.
Yeah old dudes drying their balls with hand dryers. Its weird.

Great thread.

I typically avoid gyms, but in the winter the wimp comes out and I go. Most things have already been discussed. I cannot lift anything impressive and I'm not trying to, but nothing like doing squats and watching some put 200 pound more than you on a bar and bench press it well for more than one rep.

I worked with a few guys in the Navy that I'm pretty sure did not juice and were just freaks of nature, physical big guys who could throw themselves around like a gymnest, I worked with more who did juice and were underwhelming in actual performance.

Had a rather pretty lady doing dumbbell rows or some such thing set up perfectly in front of the squat rack I was using, so if I looked forward I was staring at her backside, perhaps it was coincidence, but there was other open space and it felt very intentional. Last year she always showed up with makeup on. This year she looks more like she is showing up to exercise, no makeup and more comfortable clothes.

I keep to myself at the gym and don’t judge others, but the grunters drive me insane. There’s no bigger “look at me” move than making obnoxious noises while lifting weights that are too big.
I was in a place once were making noise would quickly be met with a barked out "suffer in silence," then in a gym with a lot of guys who made it through that (I was not one of them) there was this dude dead lifting about 350 and very loudly grunting and dropping the bar. Looked around and all thirty or so of them were snickering. Anyway, to this day lod grunters make me want to yell "suffer in silence."
My favorite is when people put the treadmill at a full incline then hang off the top of the panel...
Old guy next to me did this today. It is like the people who use poor form to move a weight to heavy for them, a form of self deception. It is amusing until they hurt themselves.
Also the people that talk to themselves are pretty awesome too. Every gym has them.
Given what I just wrote about suffering in silence, I will admit to talking to myself, usually calling myself derogatory names because I want to quit suffering rather than finish.

Never been a firefighter I take it. It is a poor man's Keiser sled. It will never impress anyone, but is a solid workout.

Simulates forcible entry and ventilation.
Tension can be adjusted on the sled.

Kind of held out on my gym story.
My ex and the stud weightlifter owner.
Pretty sure you all can figure out the rest.

I've watched people drop off their cars in the lot and get into a waiting car and disappear, all dressed to "work out". I've watched people lift way too much weight and get injured. The gym romances are the best, there are a few people who thrive on gym romances, and make their way around with anyone who'll pay any attention to them. Some of the women show up all dressed up with their war paint on, then take selfies on different gym equipment, they'll do this for an hour, never actually work out and then leave. It's annoying.

It's actually a pretty good core exercise.

Great for conditioning but most cheat it and hit the tire so there is a massive bounce back. Hit the lugs instead. It’s great for core when you swing rotationally. It’s will also work your grip. Some will say that doing sprints on an air bike is oddly specific but it works.

Man oh man. We just joined the local gym because neither of us want to walk outside in cold temperatures wearing ice grippers. Guess I better stop at the store and grab a English cucumber to shove inside my sweat pants.

A new one I've been noticing is the heards of high-school age males are chewing on their necklaces. Both their pearls and their gold chains. They chew on them during the lift and some even while they walk around... do they have rabies?
