I've had the MTNTough subscription for two years. Overall, it's been okay and helped me keep in hunting shape, but I'm not thrilled with it.

I usually do the Gym Daily workouts as I like to follow along with someone else working out. I workout in my home gym and this helps keep my motivation/accountability up. I enjoy the style of the Gym Daily workouts and they are well done by the coaches.

The shortcomings I've found are:
1. It's hard to navigate and overwhelming to find other workouts so I mostly just follow along with the Gym Daily workouts. You click into other programs and they are mostly self-driven.
2. The daily workouts only show up for the day and then are inaccessible even though I'm a subscriber. They only post new workouts Monday-Friday. This sucks when you have a busy couple of days during the week/travel and then want to continue workouts over the weekend, especially if you've already done Friday's workout. It is frustrating not having access to at least that week's workouts and I wonder is this a good use of my $.
3. Suggested weights are also not always included and I find myself starting too light or heavy. It's very helpful when they do suggest M/F Beginner/Intermediate/Expert weight, but when they don't it feels lazy and I wonder is this a good use of my $.

Is there another program out there that has daily functional fitness workouts I can follow along with that is worth trying? Or does anyone have suggestions to make the MTNTough program work better for me? I'm nothing special, I just want a clear program to follow any day of the week when I have a free hour.

I'm a mtn tough subscriber as well, but I only do their minimal gear programs, as I don't have all the required gym equipment at home.

Your complaint #2 is actually a complaint of mine as well (for the same reason you mentioned), and I emailed them about it once and asked if the workouts could somehow be available for maybe a week before disappearing, and their reply was that they find it motivates people to get their workout in for the day if you know its only available for the day. They also told me that you can archive workouts to do later, but you can only do that on your phone, and I can't cast my phone to my gym tv so it kinda sucks. If you can cast your phone to your tv, it maybe wouldnt be so bad.

With all that said, I saw a guy on here mention "Ladder" once, and I looked around their website once and was kinda intrigued.. No personal experience with it though.

Thanks that's helpful - with your post I found out you can at least download the current day workout into the app to replay it. Still it's frustrating you don't get the week's workouts available. If you're traveling/busy and forget to download that day's video to workout over the weekend, it's gone forever. It's also annoying to be stuck on the app and not have it on a computer/tv screen.

I emailed them about access to old videos a few months ago and this was the reply:
Gym Daily workouts are new each day and only live in the app for 24 hours. With this program you would just join in on the day you choose.

No mention of being able to download in the app so maybe that's new functionality after all these requests or the CS wasn't very helpful. There is a thread on their forum with people asking for older videos: https://lab.mtntough.com/forums/mtntough-testimonials/70032-previous-daily-workouts

Like I said, I'm actually happy with the workouts and they've helped me a lot. I just want to keep it simple, press play, and see what we're doing today!

I have listened to a couple elkshape podcast, they have workouts but I have not tried.

One I like if your into kettlebells is Adriell Mays, not hunt specific but a lot of single KB movements that help balance, he is also big into training legs. He also has mobility mixed.

The free option is to sign up CrossFit.com email and you get their workouts for free, if you are into that type.

I’ve been using MTNTOUGH for a couple years now. I’ve done most of the minimal gear workouts and MGD’s. I can’t help you out on other programs, but here’s a few things I do to help myself.

Your first point— I find a program I want to do, click the 3 dots, and click “add to my list”. Then when I’m ready to do the workout I just click “my library” and there the program is. When I’m done I delete it and pick the next program.

Second point— the idea of the MGD was to hold yourself accountable and get the workout done within the 24 hours it’s posted. I travel for a living so I struggle with finding time some days as well. If I’m going to miss it I try to download it on my iPad and do it later. If I forget to then that’s on me and I pick back up with the current MGD.

Third— I think they have gotten better about telling you what weights the athletes are using in the MGD’s recently, sometimes it gets overlooked.

Hope this helps until you find a new/different program!
