The Unofficial CZ 452/455/457 Thread

I am surprised at how many Lefties have rifles and are wanting more. I'm interested if anyone snagged a lefty Bergara yet?

I should NOT be surprised at how much quality .22 cost. I am rather lucky I guess in that my TactiCool shoots the Norma TAC-22 very very well. It's $9.99 a box, but at least is seems available on the shelf almost everywhere now.
Hi, I'm also interested, has anyone picked up a lefty Bergara B-14r yet?

Have the prices on the 457 gone up? I wanted a 457 precision varmint trainer with the manners stock. They were 1200.00 all day long a year ago, looks like 1700+ now.

Does anybody know a place that has them for a decent price?

Here is my scout that I put in a Boyd's stock to be able to switch back and forth between boys and adults.

The aftermarket aperture and the factory front blade are great.

Um, wow... That's a lot of money. You could probably buy a used 457, Lilja barrel, and bravo stock for less than that. That's the direction I'd recommend.

Had to take the NXS 3-15 off because the parallax doesn’t focus close enough. Back to the SWFA 10x.

Some 5 round groups at 25 yards. Shooting CCI SV over a pack and off a bipod.

Still waiting on extended mag release, arca rail and mdt grnd pod. Haven't done extended ammo testing yet. Here's some 50yd groups with Aguila Std which has historically shot a tiny bit better than CCI Std for me. Hashed out shots were zeroing. Unsupressed.

Groups definitely opened up and threw some random fliers with the sparrow. Gonna start testing with some shims along with more ammo along with some action screw torque testing.

We shot ours today. It's getting passed around since I pulled the Boyd's stock off and put the factory stock back on.

I had to get aftermarket screws to get it to torque down. The factory screws stripped on the torque screwdriver.

I'm going back thru this thread looking at rings to see if I need offset rings to run an NX8 1-8 or SWFA fixed 6.

We may get a LH 22lr 457 American. Looks like we have to cut the barrel or find an aftermarket barrel that's threaded.

I'm in the market for a new 457. My Pro Varmint is still set up like a target rifle and I want another one that's sleeker and lighter for rabbit hunting. I want an American stock and a 16" sporter barrel threaded 1/2-28, but his doesn't appear to be a combo they offer. I'd buy a royal but the threads are wrong and I don't really want to pay that much extra for fancy wood.

Is this a dumb idea? What if I buy a Scout and an American, switch the stocks, and sell the Scout (with the American barreled action in it)?

I could just buy an American and have the barrel chopped and threaded, but I have no local smiths so shipping plus smith fees is quickly going to get into the several hundred dollar range.

Just thinking out loud. What's the cheapest way to get a 16" 1/2-28 American?

Buy a Scout, then buy a take off American stock in the exchange section of Rimfire Central. Then sell your Scout stock there too.

Cut the American.

The scout barreled action has iron sight stuff attached to it front and rear. You can see with a scope with the front and rear removed but I think you're moving money around on the other scenario and it won't be as good as it can be.

You have to watch the exchange on RimfireCentral daily. American stocks run around $130-160 give or take depending on condition. If you’re patient, there’s always people buying a rifle for the barreled action and take off the stock immediately. Everyone has their favorite configuration that the factory doesn’t offer.

If you aren’t a member there, join. Then start making some posts. I think you have to post some before you can use the exchange.

This is great advice. You can also see my thread where I complain about the ridiculous diversity of offerings that CZ has, without managing to have many of the most common sense options.

My 455 .22wmr American Sts with iron sights and pivot QD mounts from INNOmount. McMillan M40-a22 stock and Schmidt and Bender1.5-6x just to be over the top.
