On the reloading podcast there was some question about if bushing dies are always superior or just generally better. The internet told me that non-bushing FL sizing dies have generally made more concentric cases than bushing dies when compared. I like that standard dies size the whole neck, are less prone to creating donuts, and cost less. So I ’m on the honed Forster FL die bandwagon.

A honed one piece die to your specs would be the ticket! Also SAC dies use a neck/shoulder bushing and not just a neck bushing. They are my favorite for that reason.

Interestingly the Area 419 dies do not use bushings. I just got the 300PRC and 6.5PRC S Series dies. Will be interesting to see how they work.

Honestly seems pretty reasonable that Alpha Munitions, who makes brass, would not be stoked to have a company named Alpha "insert basically anything", that makes ammo.

And you cannot use your standard bushings, have to get their shoulder bushings, an even bigger investment. I'm sure that was their plan.

I've never jumped into the super Gucci end of the die world, didn't personally see the return. Stuff I'm more serious about I'll go Redding Type S FL with their comp seater, and I've got a Harrell's bushing die with a tighter base for Dasher. Use a few basic Hornady seaters and so far so good.

With my Hornady LnL AP progressive, the tolerances work out such that I typically have to shorten sizing dies to get them to bump the shoulder how I like. Hard to imagine buying a SAC just to break out the angle grinder when it arrived.

Yeah they are dude. None of that expensive shit makes a difference in whether or not you kill an animal either honestly. It’s just my special interest lol. I’m not a big spender… unless it’s for shooting or hunting hahaha.

I didn't realize they had a near universal seating die, I could make the case for the .480" diameter one if I didn't have everything I already have.

Havnt seen this question come up. But why in the world would they suggest 6.5 prc for everything? I get it it's ballistically awesome and it isn't a 300 something, but for the "average" guy that wants to shoot out a barrel and then decide what he really wants, why a magnum bolt face? To me 6.5 creedmoor is WAY better for the masses. Less recoil, more barrel life, option of 22,6 or 25 creed down the road. Seems way more versatile.
Genuinely surprised they build a podcast around that.
Maybe Ryan wants to drive more to the 6UM with that bolt face?
