This is based on your belief that the “influencers” are desiring the truth. The very people that yall are taking about have the scopes and rifles in hand, and some teach classes and shoot all over, all the time supposedly- but can’t (won’t) zero a rifle and simply drop to see what happens…

They are not interested in the truth or they would do so.
I can't presume to know their intentions and desires. I do not know them and can't read their minds. Most people do want to know the truth even if it will cause internal conflict. Humans are curious by nature.

I’m not saying anything new. For those who say the drop evals are inconsistent and have lots of error, then why do we have scopes that consistently pass, and scopes that consistently fail? The tried & true pass time and again, and those that have a bad history keep failing. Almost on every one, if it’s failed the drop eval, then it shifts while riding in a truck. These things are proven out. Also, people keep saying ammo variations and such. Again, the same ammo is shot for a scope eval for the life of that model while being tested. Form’s group sizes are always consistent. “Variables” aren’t what’s causing scopes to fail. Cheap/weak manufacturing is what is causing it.

I love it. I love how you blow the minds of scope makers. I brought this up to an optic maker and they literally freaked out on me and told me you are paid by nightforce. All the while night force is banging a scope loudly in the background and showing that it works after! Asshats!

This! I’ve been pushing back on Tract here a couple times when JW made a post about a sale! The first time I asked if any of the models retained a zero after drops. Crickets. Then today I asked how about a scope that holds zero. Crickets again. We all need to push back kindly but firmly if we’re going to ever see any kind of industry shift.

I went to the you tubes and searched drop test, torture test scopes etc, and found this guy. I watched a couple of his videos, and he is dropping the scopes from 12-20 feet onto the concrete or decking at his house lol this video he ran over it with a truck. Now I dont think he is doing a bunch of drops, but I think I watched him drop one and it bent the front of the scope lol, any way, not all of the scopes pass his test either, but least people are trying to test stuff to see what works and doesnt. Here is a link and I dont know him from Adam. Scope evaluation

Rose colored glasses sir.

And:
  • Sponsor money
  • Free scopes for influencers
  • Free scopes for top comp shooters
  • Advertising in those reputable ol' gun magazines and Fudd-tastic hunting shows on the tee-vee.
  • Peer pressure
  • Because "Ma daddy / grandpappy / Ron Spomer sez ..."
  • Logos on sweatshirts, rifles, tripods, sponsor tables, marquees, match guides competition flags, etc etc
  • "But this Burris/Lee-o-pold/Vortex is made in 'Murica. I'm sure it is. Or at least they used to be."
  • "But the WARANTEEEEE ... every time I've had a problem with one of their scopes, they look after me real good. Last time, they even sent me some logo'd up merch so that I can promote them even more."
  • Hundreds of scopes given away on prize tables
  • Leviathan Group
  • Interviews on podcasts by otherwise reputable folks, because you have to promote the hand that gives you free stuff
  • "Yeah, of course you have to check zero before every match/hunting season. That's what the zero range/gun range is for."
  • Frank stopped publishing his scope eval data because the companies got grumpy
  • "But aren't they all made in the same factory? Everything's the same these days."
And so on ...

It’s interesting you decided it was Tract…

I didn’t “decide” it was Tract. However, their scope drastically failed the evaluation. They are one optics company that’s on here, and post from time to time. If Leupold was on here, I’d push back on them too. Simply trying to contact companies that are already on here.
