Money and/or power routinely cause people to present what they know to be at best misleading and at worst outright lies all the time... I mean its a lawyers job for instance to literally do this for their client even if they know the person is 100% guilty they will spin a tale of doubt, etc. because its their job. Politicians do it all the damn time too. Why do you think influencers who have something to gain wouldn't do it? Sure they personally might want to know the truth (just as I'm sure a lawyer wants to know if their client is actually guilty) but what comes out of their mouth often is what is in the best interest of their "client".

Yes, I agree with you.

For all we know, Caylen might be out in the woods by himself dropping his rifle on the ground, pulling his hair out, and having an existential crisis because his sponsor's scope won't hold zero and he doesn't know what to do with the info he's just gained. So he's decided to lie to keep his sponsorship.

But there are those that have some integrity and would change their public tune if they found out differently.

I’m curious if this subject comes up on the podcast with Jay from Mindful Hunter/Reviews and Caylen on their collaborative series regarding guns. Jay is a friend of mine and I suggested he reach out to Caylen originally, as well as Ryan, after he came to terms with his limitations on his goat hunt this fall. While Jay isn’t a real experienced gun user, coming from mostly archery, he certainly understands and can decipher biases and disingenuous marketing from true evaluations. I’m tempted to suggest some prodding..

I'm not saying there are currently gunt/hunting influencers out there that have the integrity to change their public messaging on the topic.... Just saying there are people out there that have the capacity to do such a thing.

Whether or not there's currently someone in the hunting/gun sphere that would do so, it doesn't seem anyone has yet that I'm aware of.

I wonder if that’s why muleyfreak boy moved from Leupold to Nightforce? He knew the Leupold’s were faulty and their integrity wouldn’t allow them to shoot them at living animals anymore regardless of whatever perks they may have been receiving from Leupold.

Sorry this has gotten a little off-topic, and I am not the contributor of mayhem…

Maybe Leupold got uncomfortable with his multiple poaching convictions which apparently don't bother nightforce, black ovis, <feel free to add in anyone else that has remained affiliated with him at this time>.

I absolutely think of Jay as a friend as well. Talk to him fairly often. He really is a stand up and honest guy, so I had zero issues sharing my thoughts on his recent story.

Multiple companies and individuals have asked, or been offered to come out- and they have all been told yes without hesitation. The deal is that there would be a continually running camera while everyone goes to a local store and multiple scopes of whatever they believe in are bought, then taken to a range. Then the rifle proofed by going through the drop eval in front of them and on camera. Then have the companies/individual mount the brand new scopes as the please, then they zero it and conduct the drop eval themselves. All with uninterrupted filming.

Unsurprisingly all have declined or immediately stopped communicating.
That speaks volumes.

I have only watched/ listened to a few of his podcasts but I did listen to his episode with Jake Downs and there seems to be a level of “respect” (if you want to call it that) where guys won’t argue or put up too much fuss when a guest has differing opinions. I wouldn’t be surprised if rokslide or it’s “tests” gets brought up but I think it’ll be brief and disregarded as “bullsh*t”

My comment was typed with more than a little sarcasm not directed at the original poster I quoted but the “influencer”

So "according to Von Benedict" Form is full of it and dangerous but "Jack from New Zealand" is a knowledgeable authority because he wrote in? I've got several family members that have decided to follow my advice after they've seen how well and easy my rifles shoot with scopes that have passed the drop test and are lighter caliber.

I'd rather we were "wrong" and comfortable shooting knowing where our bullets hit is where we aim than be "right" with a wondering zero and bad flinch.

Need Honest Outlaw or Pew Pew to expand their reviews to scope evals. They've beaten up some "untouchable" guns from "untouchable" manufacturers in the past. They also give credit where it's due on different guns for the same manufacturers. For example the P365 is treat and the P320 isn't.

A turd is a turd, and its all about how companies respond. For example, Honest Outlaw had all kinds of malfunctions with the Henry Homesteader. He sent it back for repairs and it still wouldn't run when he got it back. The CZ is Nocturne is another example. He's carried and sang the praises of the venerable C07 for years. He tested the Nocturne and it wouldn't run, and he puts this out there in real time.

He's also quick to say his experience is a sample size of one, and folks mileage may vary.

That Gold Ring is just tough for people to say anthing bad about. I mean, hey, it's GOLD!

JVB also mentioned how Ackley and the other old timer shot game with .224 bullets effectively. 🤔 And JVB was saying that Boddington says that he hasn’t found anything as too much gun yet. A 300WM is plenty, too much most of the time. A magnum doesn’t DRT everything it hits.

Probably not best to drive traffic to these fools podcast, YouTube channels et el.
It reinforces their narrative through activity metric.
Putting $ in their pockets to keep the status quo

You’re right. But I just couldn’t resist the temptation to listen.
